Marshal, Please Calm Down (MARSHAL)
Quick Note: You can read the Chapters 1 to 94.1 that are done by Chrysanthemum Garden.
“Cough, cough.”
Upon hearing Wu Zimo's words, Rocard felt that there was something beneath the surface. Instinctively, he stopped exchanging glances with Scott, composed himself with a cough, and then spoke up.
“Scott should have told you about our encounter with the medium-dimensional Fire-fly Zerg, as well as the high-dimensional Blade Zerg that followed them, right?”
Not knowing how Rocard brought this up, Wu Zimo nodded, “Yes, Scott told me.” Just thinking about brushing past those ferocious Blade Zerg felt dangerous.
Seeing Wu Zimo nod, Rocard continued, “We had already contacted the Jian Army for support at that time.”
Due to unknown reasons, they had only discovered the traces of the Blade Zerg at a distance of three light-years. Remembering this, both Rocard, who was explaining, and the silent Marshal had grim expressions.
Wu Zimo didn’t think too much about it. Since he had already been in the sleep pod at that time, he could only nod for Rocard to continue.
However, Rocard did not continue. Instead, he opened his holographic computer, and the battleship's large screen simultaneously played a video file. At this moment, Rocard took a deep breath and said, “You all watch this video first.”
Scott and Wu Zimo turned to look at the large screen. Since it was on, all the soldiers and technicians in the bridge curiously looked up as well.
However, the next images made these battle-hardened soldiers gasp in shock.
The intense sounds of explosions echoed in their ears as the large screen clearly reflected the Blade Zerg and the mecha battleships piloted by the Federation soldiers.
Amidst the grotesque and nauseating grayish-blue liquid and severed limbs, there was the bright red blood belonging to humans, along with the mecha wreckage that Wu Zimo was familiar with.
“Could this be...”
The battle between the Jian Army and the Blade Zerg lasted for an hour, but the video Rocard was playing was only about ten minutes long. Yet, these ten minutes were enough for Wu Zimo, who lived in a peaceful era, to understand the brutality of the current war between the Federation and the dimensional Zerg.
Or more accurately, to realize how terrifying the blade hanging over the Interstellar Federation, signed by the dimensional Zerg, truly was.
After about ten minutes, when the video finished playing, Rocard took a breath to calm his agitated emotions before speaking, “The Jian Army encountered Major Bokal's assault training team from the Bia Corps during their battle with the Blade Zerg.”
At this point, Rocard couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Not to mention them, even Colonel Vidar, who was already prepared, hadn’t expected the combat power of the blade Zerg swarm they encountered to be so strong and ferocious.
Although the Blade Zerg were high-dimensional Zerg, their combat power was only average among high-dimensional Zerg types. However, the group of Blade Zerg the Jian Army encountered today was unusually powerful. Fortunately, they happened to run into Major Bokal's training team from the Bia Corps.
Otherwise, even if the Jian Army could achieve victory this time, it would be a bitter victory.
“This time, the Jian Army and Major Bokal's team jointly annihilated one thousand two hundred thirty-four Blade Zerg and five hundred seventy-eight Fire-fly Zerg.”
The battlefield situation recorded in the video was quite moving, but the results were indeed exhilarating. Only the top soldiers taught by Jian Army and the team trained by the so-called 'Perverted Demon King Instructor' Major Bokal could achieve such results against over a thousand high-dimensional Zerg.
“All medium-dimensional Zerg Fire-fly Zerg were eliminated, but a few Blade Zerg managed to escape in the end.” Upon reporting this, Rocard's brows furrowed.
The group of dimensional Zerg they encountered this time was filled with oddities.
The appearance of the Fire-fly Zerg could be attributed to bad luck, as they happened to choose a star region where a group of scouting Fire-fly Zerg passed by and discovered their traces.
However, the Blade Zerg hiding behind the Fire-fly Zerg were only detected by radar and spectrometers when they were three light-years away, which was utterly incomprehensible.
These weren’t some mysterious dimensional Zerg that had never been discovered before. Blade Zerg, with their ferocious appearance and considerable combat power, were the main fighting force of the dimensional Zerg, and the Federation had conducted extensive research on them.
So, not to mention Scott, even Rocard could confidently say that Blade Zerg did not possess the ability to evade monitoring.
Yet the result was that they had evaded detection, and then there was the combat power of this group of Blade Zerg. Scott and the others had fought against Fire-fly Zerg and hadn’t noticed anything strange.
However, from the video just now, it was evident that the combat power of those Blade Zerg was significantly stronger, at least 30% higher than the Blade Zerg they had encountered before. Therefore, it was no surprise that the Jian Army fought so fiercely.
“Scott, look at this.” This time, Rocard did not display the image on the large screen but opened it on his holographic computer.
The image on the holographic computer was somewhat blurry due to the great distance and the small size of the target. However, when Rocard maximized the image, Wu Zimo could see that the white mass in the picture was likely a Zerg with antennae.
“What is this?”
Although Wu Zimo had some understanding of dimensional Zerg, he certainly did not know as much as Rocard and Scott. Looking at the somewhat blurry, plump, white Zerg-like creature in the image, Wu Zimo could only look at Scott in confusion.
However, when Scott saw this creature, his brows furrowed deeply, and his gaze darkened as he stared at the white creature in the image.
“New type of dimensional Zerg!”
Indeed, something that could provoke such a strong reaction from the Marshal was definitely not a trivial matter, especially the discovery of a new type of dimensional Zerg. Before the Federation understood their capabilities, it would always be the Federation that suffered losses.
“New type of dimensional Zerg?” Hearing this name, Wu Zimo was taken aback. Didn’t they have records of all types of dimensional Zerg?
It was not surprising that Wu Zimo, as a time traveler, was not well-versed in this area. Not to mention whether intelligent life in the universe had a thorough understanding of the common enemy from another dimension, even the number of insect species on Earth had not been thoroughly researched by scientists.
Let alone the vastness of the universe they inhabited, and the dimensional Zerg came from a dimension that had never been touched by civilization.
“Indeed, a new type of dimensional Zerg. Although this dimensional Zerg is small in size, it is definitely a high-dimensional Zerg!”
The classification of dimensional Zerg could be inferred from the size of this particular Zerg. High-dimensional Zerg were absolutely massive, with strong capabilities and high intelligence.
Some high-dimensional Zerg had intelligence that was not inferior to that of humans.
Rocard pointed at the white dimensional Zerg on the holographic computer and stated his conclusion, “I suspect that all the strange occurrences we encountered during this experiment were caused by this new type of dimensional Zerg.”
Especially since they had detected strange signal fluctuations, and then the Blade Zerg around the white new type of dimensional Zerg suddenly retreated from the battlefield.
Although the intelligence of Blade Zerg was not low, they were more like a group of berserkers; once they engaged with the enemy, it was a fight to the death.
However, during this battle, just when they were about to be annihilated, a few Blade Zerg managed to retreat successfully, using the various wreckages on the battlefield as cover. If it hadn’t been captured on surveillance, no one would have believed it.
With Rocard saying this, Wu Zimo leaned closer to his holographic computer to observe the mysterious new type of dimensional Zerg.
Although its true form was not very clear, it looked plump and white, quite similar to a pupa, with the most obvious feature being the two antennae on its head.
Since it was an image, Wu Zimo didn’t know if they would sway left and right. Finally, in terms of proportion, this dimensional Zerg should only be about one meter tall, which was a huge contrast to the Blade Zerg beneath it. The size difference was so great that it was no wonder the image had to be enlarged to the point of blurriness to spot it.
Yet, this seemingly small and cute dimensional Zerg posed a significant threat to Scott and Rocard, the two highest commanders of the Heaven Wrath Corps.
From this incident, it could be inferred that the abilities of this small new type of dimensional Zerg were likely intelligence-based, akin to a strategist or commander on the human side. If the Federation army encountered a swarm of dimensional Zerg on the battlefield, all led by such a clever and mysteriously cloaked dimensional Zerg commander, the difficulty of combat would undoubtedly increase exponentially.
“Send the video record of this battle to the Federation Biological Research Institute, and ensure they study the capabilities and numbers of this new type of dimensional Zerg as soon as possible.”
“I understand.”
Rocard knew that the discovery of the new type of dimensional Zerg was extremely important to the Federation, and he had already done what he intended to do. He glanced at Wu Zimo, saluted Scott, and then turned to leave without further ado.
Wu Zimo watched Rocard's departing figure, then shifted his gaze to Scott, who was deep in thought. In this situation, he wanted to say something, but he didn’t know what he could say.
On one hand, he was not a warrior, and on the other, he was not a biologist, so he couldn’t help Scott at all.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got this.”
Noticing Wu Zimo's anxious demeanor, Scott, feeling heavy-hearted due to the discovery of the new type of dimensional Zerg, still managed to convey a reassuring tone in his voice.
Hearing Scott say this, Wu Zimo relaxed. Just as Scott said, everything was under his control.
“Pfft, of course, my god, you are the Male God of the Federation!”
Feeling relaxed, Wu Zimo teased Scott with a term of endearment he hadn’t used in a long time.
Upon hearing Wu Zimo call him ‘male god' again, a hint of a smile involuntarily appeared at the corner of Scott's mouth. Although he was initially a bit averse to the term, hearing Wu Zimo use it in such an affectionate tone made the Marshal feel it was still acceptable.
