Marshal, Please Calm Down (MARSHAL)
The Alman family had been around since Earth's era, and they still held a lot of power in the interstellar age.
Their family members were numerous, and if you counted their in-laws, even Wu Zimo would get dizzy trying to keep track.
However, only Caroline was Scott's closest relative in their generation.
Scott and his father, the old Marshal, were both only children, so Scott had no direct elders. His mother, Mrs. Alman had a younger brother who had only one daughter, Caroline.
That's why Mrs. Alman hoped Caroline could get along well with Scott. But whenever Caroline was with Scott, it felt like a cat and a mouse were together.
Caroline had no idea about her elders' subtle schemes. She always had to be cautious around her intimidating cousin Scott because she was afraid of accidentally angering him.
Meeting Wu Zimo for the first time today, Caroline was very excited.
Her cousin finally found a partner, which meant she wouldn't have to hang out with him at the banquet!
She also liked Wu Zimo at first glance.
‘It was strange, though. How could such a quiet young man fall for her cousin, who was like a big iceBorg?’
Well, another person who was fooled by Wu Zimo's appearance.
Caroline's sudden interjection was out of concern.
She was afraid her cousin might be unhappy. So, after she spoke, she secretly glanced at Scott, who was still looking at Wu Zimo with a gentle expression, and not paying attention to her. Caroline didn't know whether to be happy or depressed.
Scott's demeanor gave Caroline more confidence. She knew he wouldn't be cold to Wu Zimo.
With her worries gone, Caroline became even more enthusiastic towards Wu Zimo.
Scott wouldn't tell Wu Zimo things like Caroline, especially the gossipy and funny stories about the Alman family.
Wu Zimo listened with great interest. Caroline was a very good talker, making Wu Zimo wonder if she was a host or a broadcaster.
Earlier, Mrs. Alman had taken Wu Zimo around to introduce him to the family members. Wu Zimo wasn't used to such banquets, and Scott noticed it. So, after greeting Mrs. Alman, he took Wu Zimo to the garden.
Caroline, of course, followed them excitedly. Her gossip session with her new brother-in-law was just beginning.
The Alman family residence had a garden attached to each building. When Wu Zimo first learned about it, he didn't know how to express his disbelief.
"Rich people are corrupt, indeed." he thought.
Although this castle's garden wasn't as large or elegant as the main castle's, it was still an eye-opener for Wu Zimo, who had never seen anything like it before. He was particularly curious about the garden maze inside.
Scott had been sent to get drinks and left Caroline with Wu Zimo. Seeing Wu Zimo's gaze fixed on the garden maze, Caroline asked, "Are you interested in that, A’ Mo?"
She couldn't call him "brother-in-law" because of Scott's presence, but calling him "Wu Zimo" felt too formal. So, Caroline decided to call him "A’ Mo," even though she was actually older than him!
Caroline was twenty-six this year, already graduated from the academy and had been an interstellar mercenary for two years!
When Wu Zimo learned that Caroline was older than him and an interstellar mercenary, his expression was quite embarrassing, even when he thought back on it.
Hearing Caroline's question, Wu Zimo nodded, "It's the first time I've seen one."
The main castle's garden didn't have a maze, and Scott's villa's garden was even less likely to have one. So, Wu Zimo had only seen garden mazes online in his previous life.
Upon hearing that this was Wu Zimo's first time seeing a garden maze, Caroline's expression didn't change. She just enthusiastically introduced him to similar natural landscapes she had seen on other planets in interstellar space, many of which were formed naturally.
These places usually had poor network signals and required manual navigation. Therefore, many adventurous young people chose to explore these places.
Of course, for awakened sentinels and guides, these places were generally not dangerous.
Wu Zimo looked at Caroline, who was talking nonstop about the beautiful landscapes on various planets in the interstellar space, and felt a sense of wonder.
"Why did you choose to be a mercenary, Caroline?"
Caroline was a guide, which Wu Zimo had noticed the moment he saw her. She was also a guide with strong spiritual power. A lady from a family like hers would usually join the research institute, work in a hospital, or join the Guide Institution.
However, this girl was so tough that she became a mercenary.
Interstellar mercenaries weren't easy to be. They required high levels of physical strength, willpower, and ability.
Therefore, guides were rare among mercenaries and sentinels were the majority. Many of these sentinels were former soldiers who had retired from the military for various reasons and then became mercenaries.
Of course, there were guides among mercenaries, but most of them became mercenaries because they were bound to sentinels. They weren't like Caroline, who wasn't bound to a sentinel and still made a name for herself in the mercenary world solely on her own strength.
‘You can't judge a person by their appearance, and you can't judge the sea by its depth.’ This saying perfectly described Caroline.
"Because I can explore everywhere, and most importantly, there are no restrictions. It's very free."
The Olafa family, though not as powerful as the Alman family, still held a position in interstellar space.
However, the members of this family had a distinct personality: they were self-reliant and yearned for freedom.
Just look at Mrs. Alman.
Before marrying into the Alman family, she was a researcher who traveled across interstellar space.
As they chatted, the topic shifted to the Olafa family and Mrs. Alman, giving Wu Zimo a new perspective.
He learned that Mrs. Alman had also been quite a tough woman back in the day.
At this moment, the Marshal, who had been sent to get drinks, finally returned.
Getting drinks wasn't something Scott needed to do himself, but it was Wu Zimo's request, and Scott wouldn't object.
Seeing Scott return, Wu Zimo smiled and took the non-alcoholic drink from Scott before bringing it to his mouth. "Darling, you've worked hard."
Scott, seeing the young man's flattering gesture, had tenderness and affection in his eyes.
He followed Wu Zimo's movement as he took a sip, and let Wu Zimo finish the rest.
After Scott returned, Caroline, like a mouse seeing a cat, became quiet as a chicken.
To be honest, even if she didn't want to be quiet, she had to be quiet. The behavior of the two in front of her was too dazzling.
Caroline had many suitors, but at this moment, she felt like she had been hit by 10,000 points of damage as a single dog.
Her cousin and brother-in-law were getting along well and she should be happy. But why did she feel like crying at this moment?
………
The family gathering finally ended.
Wu Zimo didn't need to see them off because they would be staying at the castle for a few days to attend his wedding with Scott.
After exchanging a few words with the family members, Wu Zimo followed Scott back to his villa.
Wu Zimo had stayed at the main castle for a few days, but he still couldn't get used to it. It was too spacious and too big. Interstellar land was really cheap.
Back at Scott's villa, Wu Zimo felt relaxed, and the smile on his face deepened.
Scott actually knew that Wu Zimo wasn't used to the main castle, but there was no way around it. They would be living in the main castle in the future, but they wouldn't have to stay there most of the time like his mother.
Scott was the Marshal of the Heaven Wrath Corps, a young and talented Marshal who took over at a very young age. His term wouldn't be short.
Wu Zimo was a researcher, a very talented researcher who was crucial to the Federation. Therefore, both publicly and privately, Wu Zimo wouldn't be able to stay quietly at the Alman Manor and engage in political maneuvering with various forces.
So, they could only apologize to his mother. The burden of dealing with the family affairs would still fall on her shoulders.
After dinner, Wu Zimo and Scott went back to their room.
Wu Zimo lazily lay on the sofa in the bedroom while watching Scott tidy up his clothes and toiletries. He said with a smile, "Scott, I've discovered that your family is really amazing."
In the afternoon, he learned from Caroline that the Alman family had few direct descendants but many branches, and most of whom served in the Heaven Wrath Corps.
No wonder people said that the Corps was inseparable from the Alman family. If you removed the Alman family members, the Heaven Wrath Corps would be useless.
Scott finished tidying up his clothes and walked over to the sofa to hold the lazy young man in his arms.
Ignoring Wu Zimo's teasing, he whispered in his ear, "You like Caroline?"
"Huh?"
‘Why did the topic suddenly shift to Caroline?’
He couldn't turn around because Scott was holding him, so he could only turn his head and ask curiously, "Why do you ask that?"
Scott didn't answer, just his silver eyes darkened. He couldn't ignore the change in the young man when he first saw Caroline, especially after he deliberately sent him away this afternoon. When he came back, he saw a very harmonious atmosphere between the two.
As mentioned before, the Marshal was very petty and had a strong possessive desire. If Caroline wasn't a guide, and if she wasn't his cousin, how could he let her disrupt their time together so carelessly?
Fortunately, Caroline didn't know that Scott was jealous, or she wouldn't be able to sleep a wink.
Wu Zimo didn't think at first that Scott was jealous, but the Marshal's hands were getting hotter and hotter on his body, and a certain object under his butt was starting to poke him.
He quickly understood.
"Pfft, darling, you're jealous."
