Chapter 13: Broad shoulders and narrow waist

Online Dating Fiasco with the Campus Heartthrob (DATING)

Gu Zhao seemed to sense something because he suddenly lifted his cold, dark eyes.

Their eyes met, and Ji Su's heart skipped a beat.

He pretended to be nonchalant as he lowered his eyelids and continued playing with his phone.

Gu Zhao glanced at him but his gaze inadvertently fell on the crossed legs.

Ji Su was wearing straight-leg casual trousers today. The black fabric hanging perfectly made his legs appear even longer and straighter.

Gu Zhao's gaze lingered for a few seconds before subtly withdrawing it.

As the music's rhythm intensified, the room became more lively.

Ji Su originally planned to quietly stay until the party ended, but he unfortunately found himself in a prime spot for watching the drama.

He had heard from others about the school heartthrob's immense popularity, and witnessing it firsthand tonight, he realized it wasn't exaggerated at all.

Gu Zhao was like a magnet with his own magnetic field that even though he was sitting in the shadows with his face aloof as if he was owed eight million, yet he still attracted several girls who came to ask for his WeChat.

At first, Gu Zhao would refuse with a few words, but later he didn't even bother to open his mouth and just gave a cold glance that scared the girls away.

Ji Su also noticed that he was constantly holding his phone and opening it from time to time, as if waiting for someone's message.

As time passed, Gu Zhao's handsome brow furrowed and the temperature around him dropped several degrees.

Ji Su didn't want to get involved, so he silently got up to find Qiao Jin.

Qiao Jin was sitting beside Zhou Yang, who was laughing and chatting, and successfully blending in with the others.

Ji Su walked through the crowd and called out softly, "Qiao Jin."

"Ah?" Qiao Jin stood up, "Susu, where did you go just now? I didn't see you!"

"I was sitting over there." Ji Su pointed in a direction then said, "I'm heading back to the dorm, will you be okay alone?"

Qiao Jin reached out and grabbed him, "It's still early, why are you in such a hurry to leave?"

"Ji Su, are you leaving?" Zhou Yang heard and also stood up before enthusiastically urging him to stay, "There's an after-party later, stay and join us!"

"Sorry, I really have something to do," Ji Su said apologetically, "Happy birthday again and have fun."

Zhou Yang didn't force him, "Alright, then let me call you a taxi?"

"No need," Ji Su smiled slightly, "I see a taxi at the entrance, so I can easily get one."

Qiao Jin interjected, "Susu, I'll walk you out."

The two left the room one after the other then came to the quiet hallway.

Qiao Jin felt the box in his pocket and lowered his voice, "Susu, I haven't given my gift yet."

"It's fine, you can give it to him alone when the party ends." Ji Su comforted him, "Don't worry, Zhou Yang will like it."

"I think so too." Qiao Jin felt a bit more at ease as his tone became excited, "Just now, Zhou Yang introduced me to his friends, does this mean I've successfully infiltrated?"

"I guess," Ji Su was happy for him, but also a bit worried, "But be careful not to get drunk, it wouldn't be good to scare Zhou Yang."

"Don't worry, I won't get drunk," Qiao Jin was very self-aware about his drinking capacity and conduct, "Then be careful on your way back."

"Alright," Ji Su gently bumped his shoulder with his own, "Good luck."

Qiao Jin clenched his fist, "I'll do my best!"

Ji Su started walking downstairs, and just as he was about to step down the stairs, a cheerful male voice called out from behind, "Ji Su!"

He paused, then turned to look at the person.

He Yiming caught his breath when quickly caught up, "Ji Su, I have something to tell you."

Ji Su politely responded, "What is it, tell me."

"Um..." He Yiming scratched his head before mustering the courage to ask, "Can I add your WeChat?"

Ji Su: "..."

Why were all the people asking for Gu Zhao's WeChat girls, while the one asking for his was a boy?

Clearly, he's a straight guy too...

"I don't mean anything else, I just feel like we hit it off." He Yiming's tone was quite sincere, "We can hang out together in the future, right?"

Ji Su fell silent with the words of refusal on the tip of his tongue but was not spoken.

The other person was Zhou Yang's friend, being so friendly to him, and hadn't expressed any intention to pursue him, would it be inappropriate to directly refuse?

He Yiming had already opened his WeChat QR code while looking at him expectantly, "Should I scan you or you scan me?"

Ji Su sighed inwardly and was about to pull out his phone from his pocket, when suddenly an image of a handsome and cold face popped into his mind.

His fingers gripped the phone in his pocket but didn't take it out, then he said apologetically, "Sorry, I've been playing with my phone too much, so it's out of battery."

"Ah? Out of battery?" He Yiming was taken aback by this situation, so he was momentarily stunned.

"Yes," Ji Su slightly lowered his eyelids to avoid the other's gaze, "Maybe we can add each other next time, okay?"

Fortunately, He Yiming wasn't the type to insist, although a bit disappointed, he said, "No problem, we'll add each other next time."

After all, they're in the same school and both know Zhou Yang, there should be plenty of chances to meet in the future, right?

"Alright," Ji Su smiled, "I have to head back to school and you go back to the party and have fun."

"Okay, see you!" He Yiming waved at him while taking a few steps before turning back towards the door.

Ji Su smiled as he watched the other leave, then turned and walked forward.

As he looked up, a tall and upright figure appeared in his vision.

Gu Zhao was standing by the roadside while looking down at his phone. The faint glow of the screen reflecting on his face, it was unclear when he had arrived or how much he had heard.

Having just copied his method of refusal, Ji Su felt a bit guilty and subtly turned his face towards another direction.

Just then, the phone in his pocket vibrated.

Ji Su awkwardly took out his phone to look at the screen.

The caller ID showed no name and he answered the call, "Hello, who's this?"

The clear and clean voice drifted into the night.

Ji Su patiently listened to the salesperson on the phone before softly replying, "Sorry, I'm not planning to buy a house right now."

After hanging up, Ji Su put his phone back in his pocket and continued waiting for a taxi.

Luckily, it wasn't long before a taxi stopped in front of him.

Ji Su hesitated as he looked at the person standing beside him then ask, "Do you want to get in first?"

Since he had been talking to He Yiming, it was likely that Gu Zhao had arrived here first to wait for a taxi, so it would be fair to let him go first.

"College students, you're both college students, right?" the driver stuck his head out of the window, "If you're heading the same way, you can share the ride!"

Ji Su instinctively declined, "No, we're not heading the same way."

He wasn't wearing much today, and sitting in the same car as an iceberg might cause frostbite.

Gu Zhao subtly frowned before finally speaking his first words to him, "No need."

Ji Su didn't decline further. He opens the car door and get in, "Driver, to A University."

"Got it!" the driver responded before stepping on the gas as the taxi slowly drove onto the main road.

Ji Su sat in the back seat while watching the night scenery rapidly receding outside the window and recalling what had just happened, he couldn't help but curve his lips.

So, refusing someone in real life isn't that hard after all.

When Ji Su returned to the dorm, his two roommates were still playing games.

"Ah? Ji Su, you're back so early?" Zhao Ziyun took a moment to ask, "How was the birthday party? Fun?"

"It was fun," Ji Su replied, "Just a bit too noisy, so I left early."

"Haha! I knew you wouldn't like the noise!" Zhao Ziyun laughed, "You should have just had dinner with us instead!"

"Don't worry, I remember," Ji Su walked to his desk, "Let's go out for lunch tomorrow?"

Zhao Ziyun readily agreed, "Sure!"

Ji Su asked again, "What do you guys want to eat?"

"I'm not picky, so I can eat anything," Zhao Ziyun replied while playing, "Especially when it's free lunch, you decide."

Li You chimed in, "I'm okay with anything too."

Ji Su took off his jacket, "Alright, I'll see what's good to eat."

"By the way, where's Qiao Jin?" Zhao Ziyun suddenly remembered another roommate. "Didn't he come back with you?"

"No, he's still at the gathering." Ji Su took out his phone from his pocket and noticed an unread message.

Ji Chen: [Bro, are you coming home for the May Day holiday?]

Ji Su frowned slightly and considered whether to ignore the message, but eventually clicked on it.

Ji Su: [Not sure yet.]

A few seconds later, Ji Chen replied quickly.

Ji Chen: [Are you going out with classmates?]

Ji Su: [No but I might have other things to do.]

Ji Su: [If nothing comes up, I'll go back.]

Ji Chen: [Then I hope nothing comes up, hehe...]

Ji Chen: [If you do come home, let me know in advance!]

Ji Su: [Mhm, focus on your studies.]

Ji Chen: [Yes, sir!]

Ji Su shook his head imperceptibly before putting down his phone and decided to take a shower first.

Half an hour later, he came out of the bathroom.

He dried his hair then sat on the chair before picking up his phone, and switched to his WeChat alt account to see if the sleazy senior had contacted him.

As soon as he logged in, messages started popping up.

G: [Had dinner?]

G: [Still practicing piano?]

G: [Went out?]

The last message was half an hour ago—

G: [It's getting late, be careful on your way back.]

Ji Su looked at the chat history and raised an eyebrow.

Just one night without replying, and he’s already bombarding me with questions. Has this sleazebag already assumed the role of an online boyfriend?

Ji Su put down the towel and was about to reply when a photo suddenly popped up in the chat.

Without looking closely, he habitually clicked on the image.

The photo showed a shirtless guy with a muscular upper body, broad shoulders, and a narrow waist—a perfect inverted triangle physique.

His arms were covered with firm but not overly exaggerated muscles, his chest muscles looked flexible and tight, and his eight-pack abs connected to a beautifully defined V-line then extending into the edge of his gray sweatpants that left plenty to the imagination.

Ji Su’s hand trembled, and he almost dropped his phone again.
