The Green Tea is Always Targeting The Wrong Person (GREENTEA)
Yue Chu gazed at the bustling laboratory with his eyes narrowing slightly as he leisurely took a sip of the coffee Mu You had prepared for him.
Hmm, the sweetness was just right.
This little sesame-filled bun was actually quite talented. Though he appeared soft and gentle, he had quickly taken the initiative and risen to a high position and skillfully directed the other three around.
Unintentionally, he had already established a team centered around himself.
He was equally brilliant, but having been overshadowed by Jiang Quan for so long, he had forgotten that he too was a genius, channeling his intelligence into unconventional paths.
Now that he had handed over the entire laboratory to Mu You, the busy workload would likely leave him with no spare time to stir up trouble, which would also create some opportunities for Jiang Quan and Lan Yi.
Thinking of this, Yue Chu propped his head up with his hand while tapping his temple lightly with his fingers.
Why was it that Jiang Quan liked Lan Yao?
He sighed softly.
This was truly a troublesome love triangle.
Yue Chu stood up and walked into the storage room to continue his research on the peculiar meteorite.
He picked up the small sphere and held it up to the light to clearly see the red substance inside slowly rotating like stars twinkling in the universe.
"Where did you come from?" Yue Chu was curious.
[I come from Bora Star. My original destination was not Blue Star, but the advanced civilization of Fool's Planet. However, the Jumper malfunctioned, and by the time I woke up, I had deviated from my course and ended up landing on Blue Star.]
A glimmer of light flashed in Yue Chu's eyes.
So that's how it was.
He gently flicked the small sphere with his fingertip.
This seemingly unremarkable little sphere possessed the power to destroy the world.
"They say you can grant eternal youth and prolong life. I wonder if that's true."
[Of course, it's false.]
Yuan scoffed.
[The people of Blue Star are too fragile to withstand my full power. The reason I provided you with some of my tissue was simply in the hope that you would quickly find a way to coexist with me temporarily.]
Yue Chu pondered this.
So, if Yuan couldn't find a host, he might eventually die.
That's why the Zombie Virus would eventually break out—because Yuan needed to survive.
Wait... something didn't quite add up.
"Dr. Jiang has been researching for so long, yet there seems to be no progress. How disappointing."
[Jiang Quan is a genius, but his research direction is wrong. He has been focused on unleashing greater power from the virus, rather than building a stable relationship, which is why those life forms collapsed.]
So that's how it was.
Though Yue Chu didn't fully understand, he had a vague sense of realization.
He smiled slightly while tapping the smooth surface of the sphere.
What a useful little thing.
Well-behaved children deserve rewards.
Yue Chu took out a lollipop and waved it twice outside the transparent container.
He smiled gracefully. "Do you know what this is?"
[What?]
"It's candy. Very sweet."
[Sweet... what is that?]
Yue Chu thought for a moment before softly describing the taste of sweetness as if painting a colorful picture and constructing a beautiful dream for Yuan.
"Sweetness is the taste of happiness, making people want to smile with joy, spreading a warm, gentle feeling from the heart."
[...]
[I hate sweetness.]
[Because I hate your smile.]
Yue Chu innocently shrugged his shoulders before looking at the smile reflected in the mirror.
It was still as charming as ever, so why had it suddenly become unappealing?
Knock, knock, knock—the door was rapped.
Yue Chu casually placed the lollipop on the table then removed his protective suit, and walked out.
The door creaked shut, and the room returned to silence.
No one spoke gently to him anymore, nor did anyone look at him with a smile as bright as the moon.
Yuan involuntarily rolled around until he bumped into the transparent wall of the container before snapping back to reality.
A blinding red light flashed across his body, only to fade away quickly.
The camera flickered twice and then stopped moving.
The lollipop on the table seemed to be unwrapped by an invisible hand, and the beautiful pink candy quickly melted away.
Moments later, the wrapper and the stick disappeared as well.
The camera started functioning again, as if nothing had happened.
Mu You glared at the person in front of him with his soft, round face darkening with displeasure.
He gritted his teeth and almost wanted to bite him.
He couldn’t understand how he had been so bewitched back then to agree to this. And even after agreeing, this person had the audacity to dump the entire lab on him without a care in the world.
Mu You was first delighted, then speechless.
After all, he was as busy as a dog, while this person sat there comfortably drinking coffee, which was just too infuriating.
He ground his teeth and asked, “Is the coffee good?”
Yue Chu raised his cup, thoroughly satisfied, and couldn’t resist pinching Mu You’s gloomy, round face.
He’s still a child after all that unable to keep up the act for long. His skills are far from sufficient.
He didn’t hold back his praise: “It’s very good. Thank you, Xiao You.”
Xiao… You?
Mu You was almost choked by the intimate address.
It took him a while to recover, and he snorted in displeasure.
What’s with the closeness? In the end, he still doesn’t do any work.
Mu You said, “The lab has been fully organized and is ready to operate. Professor Yue, shouldn’t you come in and give some guidance?”
Yue Chu’s gaze was calm. If he went in to guide, he’d probably be exposed in no time.
“Xiao You has done a great job. I’m at ease leaving it all to you.”
Mu You’s face remained dark with his usually pitiful eyes now glaring at him fiercely, filled with both anger and helplessness.
Although he felt inexplicably pleased by Yue Chu’s trust, the way he shirked responsibility was still infuriating.
At this point, Yue Chu seemed to remember something.
He put down his cup and, with a slight smile, straightened Mu You’s collar.
The sudden closeness brought with it a faint fragrance and warmth, causing Mu You to freeze in place while not daring to move.
Why is he so close?!
Yue Chu leaned in and whispered, “Since Dr. Jiang is focused on unleashing the virus’s potential, why don’t we take the opposite approach?”
Mu You finally snapped out of it and frowned slightly.
But their goal was to use the virus to promote human evolution. If it remained stable, wouldn’t that be useless?
However, when he met Yue Chu’s gentle and wise (or so it seemed) eyes, he felt as if the stars were spinning and making him dizzy. Before he knew it, he had obediently walked back into the lab.
His expression turned sharp, and he tightly gripped the recording panel in his hand.
His youthful face now showed a depth and ferocity that didn’t match his appearance.
'Damn it, how was I fooled again?!'
.......
“Professor Yue.”
Just as Yue Chu stepped out of the laboratory and intended to take a stroll, he was called back.
Turning around, he saw Lan Yi standing behind him while fully armed.
Lan Yi was tall and lean, not particularly muscular, but exuding a sense of strength. His dark blue combat uniform accentuated his slim waist and long legs, paired with black military boots that give him an air of exceptional poise.
His usually stern expression melted into a warm, affectionate smile upon seeing Yue Chu, like a river of spring water flowing between blossoming peach trees.
He gestured for his team to continue patrolling.
Yue Chu nodded with a light chuckle and casually asked, "Won't this interfere with your work?"
Lan Yi gazed at him deeply with his peach blossom eyes sparkling with amusement, like sunlight filtering through leaves.
He shook his head and explained, "No, my primary duty is to protect Dr. Jiang. Since Dr. Jiang is in the lab now, I’m just patrolling with the team."
Yue Chu relaxed and nodded before inviting him to walk together.
"How long have you been protecting Dr. Jiang?"
Lan Yi's gaze lingered on Yue Chu's delicate profile with his deep brown eyes, so similar to Lan Yao's, filled with intensity.
"Over three years."
Yue Chu was slightly surprised.
He had thought it started when Jiang Quan began researching the Luster Virus, but it seemed their acquaintance was much longer than he had imagined.
As if sensing his curiosity, Lan Yi didn’t hold back, "Jiang Quan and I actually knew each other since we were very young. It started when my uncle adopted him from the orphanage. We used to play together from time to time."
"But he loved studying, and I preferred training. Our interests diverged, and as we grew older, we moved in different circles, so we didn’t interact much."
Yue Chu’s thoughts stirred.
Childhood friends for so many years, yet they hadn’t ended up together. If it weren’t for Lan Yi’s selfless rescue, this relationship might never have transformed.
However…
He glanced subtly at Lan Yi.
According to Little Bear, Lan Yi had always harbored a secret love for Jiang Quan but chose to silently protect him for various reasons.
He clicked his tongue softly.
This was no easy feat; it seemed Lan Yi truly loved Jiang Quan deeply.
Noticing Yue Chu’s gaze, Lan Yi straightened his posture and adjusted his profile to its most flattering angle with his smile radiant like the sun.
After all, while men might not prioritize looks, appearance is still one of the ways to attract beauty.
Just then, a commotion erupted ahead.
Piercing screams and gunshots shattered the tranquility of the research institute.
The seeds of disaster that were hidden in the darkness, were striving to break through their hard shells and growing toward the light.
Lan Yi’s eyes narrowed as his smile vanished instantly.
He drew his gun from his waist before shielding Yue Chu behind him, like a black panther sensing danger, with every muscle taut and ready.
Those usually tender peach blossom eyes now sharp and piercing, revealing the blood-stained demeanor of someone who had walked through fire and blade, making it clear he was far from the harmless, charming man he appeared to be.
Lan Yi said in a low voice, "Professor Yue, please hide. I’ll handle this."
Yue Chu agreed but didn’t follow Lan Yi’s instructions to take cover. Instead, he leisurely followed because he was curious to see if Pandora’s box had already been cracked open.
The continuous sound of gunfire echoed as the well-trained team members relentlessly attacked the escaped experimental subjects from the laboratory. However, the creature was too fast, and they simply couldn't hit it.
A trail of crimson blood stained the floor, and the entire corridor was filled with a pungent, metallic stench.
Researchers in white coats fled in terror, and those who were slightly slower were caught by the frenzied experimental subject with their necks bitten off.
The sound of sharp teeth tearing through flesh was horrifying.
It wasn't until the experimental subject stopped to consume its prey that people could clearly see what was clinging to the wall.
Though it still vaguely resembled a human, its evolved limbs were far more robust than any human's. Its red, bulging muscles and sharp claws dug deep into the metal wall that left a large hole.
Its face was almost unrecognizable, with a gaping slit in the center. Instead of a brain, it revealed a mouth full of sharp teeth and a tongue covered in barbs that could extend at will.
At that moment, its black eyes, hanging on either side, darted around as if searching for its next victim.
Yue Chu carefully observed the appearance of the experimental subject.
This was likely the prototype of a zombie.
His gaze swept over the few researchers who had been bitten but managed to escape, and a thoughtful expression flickered across his face.
