Chapter 7

Marry Me, I'm Super Well-Behaved [Esports] (MARRY ME)

Ning Nanzhou certainly didn’t plan to compare the number of magic potions with a big streamer. His gaze locked onto a line of fine print at the bottom of the page.

——To encourage everyone to try the new hero, the Magician, players who achieve a 100-game win streak with the Magician will automatically win the event. Starry Sky TV reserves the final right of interpretation for this event!

A new hero?

After meeting Chi Yu yesterday, his mind had been filled with nothing but indecent thoughts, making him completely forget to check the game updates.

Ning Nanzhou quickly logged into the client, and several pages of update notes immediately popped up on the black game interface.

Advent was a game that updated every season, but the changes to the Top Laner role were always superficial—nothing more than sacrificing oneself for the team. He scrolled straight to the page introducing the new hero.

A character in a black hood appeared before him. The wide brim of the hood obscured half of his face, his white hair fluttering in the wind. A slender staff shimmered with dark light as the hero spoke in an utterly flamboyant voice.

“One day, I shall ascend to godhood.”

Pretty arrogant.

Ning Nanzhou was instantly intrigued by this hero. He right-clicked to check the detailed introduction.

This was a classic mage hero with pitifully low HP—the lowest among all heroes—but it could consume mana to create clones.

He used his saved-up Gold Coins to purchase the hero and started his first match.

Time passed minute by minute. He had no idea how many matches he’d played, but his eyelids grew heavier and heavier.

Yet, the thought of being able to give Chi Yu a gift felt like inching closer to the light. He got up and splashed his face with water in the bathroom, then returned to the game refreshed.

In the morning, the dormitory door opened, and Xu Ye, who had just returned from a night out, scolded him, “You didn’t sleep all night? Are you trying to kill yourself?”

Xu Ye looked ready to yank the power cord if he didn’t go to bed, so Ning Nanzhou reluctantly complied. When he woke up, his phone was ringing.

At the FKW Base, Song Mingjie and the team members who had returned from vacation were discussing the version update.

“All the popular Supports got nerfed! How am I supposed to live like this? Why do mages get a new hero? Do Supports not deserve to breathe?” A freckled boy clutched his phone in agony.

“Xiao Qiao, you think that new hero is easy? It’s already been rated the hardest hero to play by NVI,” Mid Laner Yu Jin’an mercilessly patted Xiao Qiao’s head. “If you spent half as much time training as you do playing match-three games, would you really struggle to master a meta hero?”

“You’re one to talk!” Xiao Qiao retorted indignantly. “You’re always hanging around the neighboring team—their captain even came looking for you.”

Chi Yu set his phone down calmly. “Don’t feel like having hot pot after training?”

The two bickering instantly fell silent. Seizing the opportunity, Song Mingjie asked Chi Yu, “Captain Chi, what do you think of the new version?”

Chi Yu quickly responded, "For the first time in five years, the importance of the top-side Harbinger has been buffed. This season is bound to be a game-changer."

Song Mingjie had been waiting for this answer and struggled to contain his excitement. "Other teams have never prioritized cultivating a Top Laner. They’ll be caught off guard by this Top Lane Meta—unlike us, with Xiao Qin."

He nearly blurted out how easily they could secure consecutive championships but held back, not wanting the team to grow complacent.

Unexpectedly, Xiao Qiao asked in confusion, "Huh? Song-ge, didn’t you know Qin Yong is going to SWL?"

"How do you know??!" This time, it was Manager Song’s turn to be stunned.

It wouldn’t be strange if others had found out before him—after all, teammates often knew things first. But how did Xiao Qiao, who spent his days snacking on chips and playing match-three games, know before him?!

He fell into deep self-doubt about his professional competence.

Xiao Qiao gave him a look that said isn’t it obvious? "After the match, he asked me if I wanted to go to SWL. Their cafeteria is so awful—why else would he suddenly bring that up? SWL must’ve offered him a huge deal."

"Also, I saw him whispering with Qi Yu. After their talk, Qi Yu ate two extra bowls of rice—probably got recruited too."

Song Mingjie recalled how both had been evasive when discussing contract renewals and believed Xiao Qiao’s words 90%.

But how did Xiao Qiao manage to reach the right conclusion with such flawed reasoning?!

What did SWL’s terrible cafeteria have to do with a high offer? And how did Qi Yu eating extra rice connect to switching teams?

Yet he had no energy to question it now. With two of their five members leaving—one of them being their best hope for this season’s championship—would their team even make it to the World Championship?

Song Mingjie watched as Chi Yu, usually unshakable, stood up and walked out, seemingly unable to handle the blow.

Ning Nanzhou received Chi Yu’s message about selecting wedding attire and set aside his event to head to the boutique.

Following the address, he arrived at what he assumed would be an ordinary shop—only to find it was the most expensive one in the city.

Chi Yu was already there when he arrived, dressed in a sharply tailored shirt, its folds accentuated by his frame, silver hair cascading over his shoulders. He looked composed yet distant.

A poised sales associate greeted them warmly. "You must be Mr. Ning. We’ve prepared a variety of wedding attire styles—which do you prefer?"

Overwhelmed by the dazzling array of options, Ning Nanzhou hesitated.

Undeterred, the associate continued enthusiastically, "How about this beige single-breasted suit? The waist might be a bit loose for you, but all our menswear is handcrafted in Italy—once you settle on a style, sizing won’t be an issue."

"The khaki shawl-collar is also elegant and would complement your demeanor." She pulled out another piece. "If you don’t like light colors, we also have this black one."

Having pulled an all-nighter for his event, Ning Nanzhou’s mind was blank. Chi Yu spoke gently, "If nothing here suits you, we can try another store."

The associate quickly interjected, "It’s hard to choose on your own—I struggle too. Maybe your partner could help?"

Chi Yu studied the boy with a gaze deeper than usual. "What about the white one?"

Whether from exhaustion or something else, dark circles shadowed Ning Nanzhou’s eyes. He nodded obediently.

"Will you pick for me?"

This request seemed to trouble the other party. The young man hesitated for a long time before finally selecting a dark-colored suit: "Is this one okay?"

Chi Yu actually didn't like wearing clothes of this color, but since the other had chosen it, he simply said yes.

By the time they finished selecting the clothes, it was already afternoon. As they stepped out of the wedding attire shop, the young man appeared very sleepy, his silver hair strands falling over his eyes like a long-tailed tit struggling to keep its eyes open. Chi Yu reached out to ruffle the boy's hair.

However, the moment his hand touched the boy's head, the young man flinched away as if electrocuted, clearly avoiding his proximity: "I should head back to school now."

Chi Yu wasn't the type to force things. He withdrew his hand calmly and said, "I'll take you back."

As he watched the visibly relieved boy, he couldn't help but wonder curiously: If the other had married him just to earn extra credits, did he know that divorce certificates could also add credits?
