Chapter 9

Marry Me, I'm Super Well-Behaved [Esports] (MARRY ME)

If this had happened before, he would’ve printed the screenshot and enshrined it.

But now...

Now he was too nervous to speak, muting his mic and silently playing the game.

[??? Weren’t you wild before? Now you’re speechless just because Chi Shen is here???]

[Where’s your South-isms?!]

[Ugh, Chi Shen finally shows up, and you just disappear after one line!!!]

[Unmute! Unmute! Unmute!]

[South, don’t make me lose respect for you!]

Taking a deep breath, he unmuted again.

Not because the chat had provoked him, but because a streamer staying muted was just weird. Besides, Chi Yu hadn’t reacted to his welcome—he probably hadn’t recognized his voice.

He swiftly wrapped up the match and calmly explained, "My mic had some issues earlier. It’s fixed now."

[You scared me! Thought something happened to you.]

[That’s more like it. No way South would stay quiet with Chi Shen here.]

[When are you getting a better mic? This one keeps peaking.]

Ning Nanzhou’s heart skipped a beat at the mic discussion, but he smoothly changed the subject. "We’ve been gaming for a while. Is there... anything you guys want to watch?"

Though addressing everyone, his gaze flickered toward Chi Yu’s name in the VIP section.

[??? Since when do you ask for our opinions, son?]

[You already know what we want to see!]

[Crossplay! Crossplay! Crossplay!]

Ning Nanzhou mercilessly banned the crossplay spammer, straightened up, and opened Bilibili.

"Haven’t browsed Bilibili in a while. Let’s search for the most popular Advent video and watch it together." His fingers flew across the keyboard.

The results appeared instantly.

Truthfully, he already knew which video topped Advent’s trending list—he watched it daily.

"Oh, it’s the S12 Grand Finals." He clicked on the familiar video. "The finals were FKW versus Korea’s LM. It was China’s first world championship in five years."

"And Chi Yu’s second championship in five years."

[That last line is the real point, isn’t it?!]

[I bet during those five muted minutes, he was brainstorming how to gush about him!]

[Listening to him praise someone like this makes me jealous—he’s never praised me like that.]

This video was all too familiar to him—so familiar that he didn't even need to watch the footage to know what was happening.

The silver-haired boy closed his eyes briefly and began narrating in an objective tone: "LM sets up an ambush at level one, but player Chi Yu predicts their move and counters in the bushes. Congratulations to Chi Yu for securing the first kill of the Grand Finals."

[You're good at hyping him up, but your mom has to interrupt—you didn't say that during the live commentary.]

[You said, 'Chi Shen is so fierce in-game, he must be just as wild in bed.']

[Don’t forget the golden line about whether the dragon was big or not!]

Ning Nanzhou swiftly muted them, his fingers moving so fast they blurred over the keyboard.

"LM's jungler is preparing to gank top, but player Chi Yu won’t give him the chance. He cuts off LM’s retreat and pulls off a stunning one-versus-two!"

[?? You muting again, you little brat?]

[Even if I get muted, I’ll say it—you originally said, 'Chi Shen must be great at taking you from behind!']

[And 'I’d get hard just from Chi Shen fucking me.']

Ignoring the chat, Ning Nanzhou stared unblinkingly at the VIP seat ID on screen. "Congratulations to player Chi Yu for securing the first game’s MVP, stepping onto your Path to Godhood."

Through his headphones echoed the cheers of the audience from back then, the wind tousling his silver-white hair.

He would never forget the moment of their S12 championship. FKW had suffered five consecutive World Championship losses, once even failing to make playoffs. Endless vitriol had been hurled at Chi Yu as the team captain. He could have left for another team, yet he shouldered the burden with quiet determination, lifting this declining veteran squad back to elite status.

The golden confetti that had once brushed past Chi Yu’s eyes—this time, it finally rained down upon him.

As the video reached its end, Ning Nanzhou spoke deliberately: "Player Chi Yu is the best player."

Whether it was the Chi Yu who sealed his legacy as a Three-time Champion or the Chi Yu who stumbled in S9.

Perhaps he had muted too many people, because the lively stream had grown eerily quiet—making Chi Yu’s message unmistakable.

[Thank you.]

The moment he read those words, the wind around him seemed to still, his heart pounding violently in his chest.

In FKW’s training room, Song Mingjie casually glanced at Chi Yu’s screen. "Whose stream are you watching?"

"Just a small streamer." Chi Yu looked at the channel name. "'Hundred-Win Streak with Magician.'"

"Magician???!"

Song Mingjie nearly jumped out of his seat.

Sure, there were plenty of one-trick streamers who could outplay pros on their signature picks—but the new hero’s difficulty was notorious. A hundred-win streak? Was this even human?

What a coincidence—it's that small streamer I saw last time.

"I'll have Zhao Li reach out tomorrow to see if he's willing to join the youth training."

Although they were short on Top Laners, Song Mingjie had no intention of letting the streamer start right away.

Being good at the game and being fit for professional play were two entirely different things. The simplest example was that pro players needed a deep champion pool. Some streamers could only play one or two champions—no matter how skilled they were, they’d be instantly targeted the moment they stepped onto the stage.

Song Mingjie set the matter aside. "By the way, the results for Starry Sky TV’s event are out. When do you have time to do a voice chat?"

"They changed the rules midway," Chi Yu replied indifferently.

Song Mingjie had heard about the rule change. Originally, winning a hundred consecutive matches as the Magician would secure victory. So that little streamer had been playing the Magician for this event?

He racked his brain to persuade him. "The organizer said they compensated him, and doing the voice chat would reduce the team’s required streaming hours. Does it really matter who you connect with?"

Chi Yu didn’t answer Song Mingjie’s question directly, instead calmly starting a ranked match.

"Do you know how long it takes to win a hundred matches in a row?"

Song Mingjie froze at the question.

Even if he won every single match, with each game lasting thirty minutes, it would take at least fifty hours—over two days of nonstop play.

The young man in front of him entered the game and effortlessly invaded the enemy jungle. "I don’t have a habit of bullying kids."

As the Magic Season event drew to a close, Chu Yuan, who had the highest number of Magic Potions, won an 8,000-yuan prize.

But what he cared about wasn’t the money—it was the chance to voice chat with Chi Yu.

Chu Yuan called the organizer. "Brother Wang, didn’t you say before that the winner could do a voice chat with Chi Yu? When would be a good time?"

"It’s not about whether it’s convenient for me," the organizer sighed helplessly. "Captain Chi isn’t willing. Maybe there’ll be another chance in the future."

After hanging up, Chu Yuan lowered his head in disappointment. He didn’t understand why Chi Yu refused to voice chat with him when he was willing to visit streams like South’s.

Ning Nanzhou didn’t understand Chu Yuan’s thoughts, nor was he interested in understanding.

He rubbed his reddened wrist from playing too long and glanced at the package that had just arrived on his desk.

The gift he bought had arrived—but how was he supposed to deliver it?

Though he and Chi Yu were married, they barely talked. They were practically strangers (one-sidedly!). Asking to meet up… would be weird, right?

The white-haired boy clicked on the pinned contact and started typing in the message box.

He typed, "Would it be possible to get your address? I’d like to send you a gift," then deleted it.

Then he typed, "Thank you for the gift last time. I prepared one for you too—what’s your address?" and deleted it again.

Type, delete. Type again, delete again.

He ruffled his hair, inexplicably dissatisfied with every draft.

Soon, he wouldn’t have to worry anymore—because while typing and deleting, he accidentally pressed the voice call button.

His mind blanked for a second. Just as he was about to hang up, the call connected…

Connected!

Chi Yu was drying his hair with a towel. Even before the call connected, he had been watching the boy type for a long time.

After that obvious rejection the other day, he didn’t understand what the other wanted now.

Ning Nanzhou’s heart nearly stopped, especially when he heard the faint sound of running water on the other end—Chi Yu was probably still showering.

The moment Ning Nanzhou imagined Chi Yu answering the phone completely naked, with dark strands of hair cascading over his shoulders and water droplets trickling down his sculpted collarbones to the firm lines of his Adonis belt, his breathing grew noticeably heated.

Perhaps because he was in the bathroom, Chi Yu’s voice was deeper than usual, resonating as if spoken right beside his ear: "What is it?"

Suppressing the indecent thoughts bubbling up, Ning Nanzhou smoothly replied, "It’s just… um… actually… nothing much. I just bought you a gift. Would it be possible to get your home address so I can send it over?"

The sound of running water on the other end stopped. "Not very convenient."

Ning Nanzhou hadn’t expected such a direct refusal. But then again, their relationship wasn’t particularly close—knowing each other’s addresses would be troublesome. Being turned down… wasn’t all that surprising.

Just as he was about to say it was fine, the next words made his beautiful eyes widen.

"Signing for deliveries is inconvenient," the other man murmured. "Would delivering it in person work?"
