Chapter 19

Marry Me, I'm Super Well-Behaved [Esports] (MARRY ME)

Seeing the eighteen-year-old Jungler instantly reply "Understood," Ning Nanzhou's slight irritation finally faded.

He wasn't bullying a middle schooler either—he was just offering some enthusiastic advice.

[15:17]South: I know Chi Shen is an insurmountable mountain, but you don't need to copy everything. If you're going to learn, focus on Jungler awareness instead.

[14:35]South: Chi Shen has the highest vision score in the League. His ganking strategy focuses on tower pressure, expanding vision endlessly—kills are just incidental.

[14:35]South: Don't get dragged by your teammates' tempo. If a siege stalls, immediately shift to side-lane pressure to force recalls.

If the Top Laner position is the "Lone King," then the Jungler is the "Daddy." Helping the strong over the weak is the golden rule.

[15:35]Snake: Okay.

For some reason, the young Jungler replied "Okay," while the usually talkative AD Carry fell silent.

Meanwhile, Chen Long stared dumbfounded at his ranking—which had risen despite being sniped. He'd never reached King rank in his life, yet now he'd effortlessly entered the top 100 national server rankings???

Chen Long rubbed his eyes, feeling like he was dreaming. Later, when he learned what kind of dream team he'd been playing with, he practically enshrined that ranking.

On the other side, Chu Yuan also felt like he was dreaming. Even when teaming with Blue Flame's second-string players, why was South still ranked above him?

Blue Flame's second-string AD Carry Shang Zeyang spoke up: "Reaching rank 38 on the national server is good enough, right? The captain might come by later—I'm logging off."

The national server environment was toxic, so pro players rarely played there. Few would drag teammates along to help a streamer climb ranks like this. This result should easily secure the website's top spot.

Unexpectedly, Chu Yuan cautiously asked, "Brother Yang, could you play two more with me? Someone just climbed to rank 28."

Twenty-eight???

Shang Zeyang hadn't expected any streamer to rank that high. However, since Chu Yuan had been fawning over him, he didn’t want to lose face in front of him. His hand, which had been about to exit, paused. "Just twenty-eight? Two more matches and we'll surpass him."

Whether it was due to the small player pool in high-tier matches or sheer luck, they ran into that streamer team in the very first game.

Shang Zeyang smirked. "Won’t even need two matches. One is enough to send him crawling back to fifty."

Chu Yuan let out a slight sigh of relief. Although Shang Zeyang was only on the second team, his skills surpassed many weak team’s starters—just not on the level of a prodigy AD like Oliver.

Yet, to his shock, within less than ten minutes into the game, all three lanes collapsed completely!

Shang Zeyang, who had just won the secondary league championship, stared at the screen in disbelief. The enemy AD was pressuring him even without a Support, and the CS gap had widened to a staggering hundred minions.

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, especially when the team captain, Xu Boyan, entered the training room. The man with the long face adjusted his glasses. "A streamer team is beating you like this?"

The tension in the room thickened.

Blue Flame was the most professional team, and Xu Boyan was its most ruthless captain.

The enemy’s "Bi Niu Zui Wo" was the first to react.

[11:06] Bi Niu Zui Wo: The playstyle’s changed. They swapped Supports.

[11:17] Snake: Mid Laner’s different too.

[11:20] Little Dragon Girl has been slain by LY.Mirror!

[11:20] Cute Duck: Can’t win so you switch players?

Normally, Ning Nanzhou would’ve already flamed them for being trash, but this time, the replacements were anything but weak.

The Mid Laner’s performance was rock-solid, instantly stabilizing the collapsing mid lane. But the most terrifying was the Support—not only playing effortlessly, but also commanding with meticulous precision.

[Holy shit! Who’s this Support?]

[Could it be Blue Flame’s captain, Xu Boyan?]

[No way. If that’s Xu Boyan, then who the hell is on this side…]

Mid lane was the most crucial, but it had already been demolished. Even though the Nine-tailed Fox rotated bot, the situation there wasn’t much better—every move was predicted by the enemy.

Seeing this, Ning Nanzhou didn’t go to help his teammates. Instead, he focused on expanding his Top Lane advantage.

The reason he loved playing Top was its independence. In a losing game, he could farm solo. Calmly, he pushed down turret after turret. But when he saw the enemy’s scattered positioning, he took a risk.

He dove into a 1v3, chaining his abilities to eliminate the Support and AD. Unfortunately, the enemy Top Laner was tanky. At low health, the enemy unleashed their ultimate. Just as Ning Nanzhou thought he was about to die—

The Jungler appeared behind him out of nowhere.

When the words "DEFEAT" flashed on the screen, Xu Boyan sighed.

The members of Blue Flame's second team hung their heads in shame. "Captain, it's our fault for not working hard enough. We'll train harder from now on!"

"It's not your fault," Xu Boyan shook his head. "That person..."

Xu Boyan stopped mid-sentence. "Who is this Top Laner?"

Chu Yuan hadn’t expected to lose even after switching to Xu Boyan. Shang Zeyang had stopped replying to his messages too. Seeing South’s ranking climb higher and higher, he couldn’t resist uploading a video.

[Chu Yuan] Is this kind of performance really not cheating? I hope the officials maintain a fair event environment.

The replies flooded in beneath his post.

[Little Snail] 1v3 in a losing game? That’s way too unrealistic.

[Chocolate Ring] What’s unrealistic isn’t just that streamer. How did the Jungler know someone was there?

[Esports Discipline Committee] The bot lane duo is suspicious too. The play at 13:40—how is that humanly possible?

The young mixed-race player rewatched his own World Championship footage. Seeing the nitpicking comments, he closed the video, then opened the clip from his alt account. Before his lips could even curl into a faint smile, he saw the comments filled with accusations of cheating.

Furious, he reposted the video.

[Blue Flame Oliver] Do you think a genius like me needs to cheat???

[Four Seasons Milk Tea] ??? Genius, learn how to play first.

[Yuan Yang Milk Tea] Who said ranked players are all trash? I still prefer your arrogant, untamed self.

[Yi Dian Dian] I said it before and no one believed me. He’s insufferably cocky—acts all chill about criticism, then begs for carries in ranked.

[Cola No Ice] And he even ran into his own captain in-game, got stomped by his own AD. Captain Xu doesn’t even mind?

[League Lone Wolf] Damn, he waltzed into Blue Flame like some god! The All-Chinese Team is gone! The All-Chinese Team is gone! They’re doomed in the Spring Split!

The incident of Blue Flame’s AD "domestic violence" against his own captain quickly went viral. Amid the laughter, someone dug up that the original poster had also cheated before and violated event fairness, making the whole thing even more dramatic.

Ning Nanzhou stared at Chu Yuan’s banned livestream. The last event had originally been meant to promote Chu Yuan. He had guessed that the one pulling strings was Chu Yuan, but he never expected that "Bi Niu Zui Wo" was actually Blue Flame’s prodigy AD.

A thought crossed his mind.

That Jungler… couldn’t be Chi Yu, could it?

Oliver wanted to say yes—Sweetheart, not only did you play with Chi Yu, you even taught him how to play the game. But remembering Chi Yu’s threat, he held back.

[Blue Flame Oliver] He’s just my cousin from the countryside who admires Chi Shen.

Ning Nanzhou let out a sigh of relief. Seeing that they shared the same idol, he confidently sent a friend request.

The event results wouldn’t be out anytime soon. That afternoon, he went to his part-time job at FKW, hesitating over whether to wear the necklace. In the end, he decided against it.

As usual, he sat at his workstation organizing past data—this time not just version analyses but also breakdowns of other teams.

He became so absorbed that he didn’t notice someone watching him silently from outside the glass wall.

Yang Ji teased Chi Yu, who had detoured to the analysis department for water. "Weren’t you worried about getting distracted?"

"Here to pick up the new version data," the long-haired man replied flatly, his gaze lingering on the plain glass of water on the boy’s desk. "Your department’s benefits aren’t great."

Ning Nanzhou was still organizing files when Yang Ji dropped a huge bag of snacks on his desk. "Take a break and eat something before continuing."

He stared at the mountain of snacks. "Yang-ge, isn’t this a bit too much?"

"The club sent a big gift package. You can take it back if you can't finish it all," Yang Ji said with a smile. "You can snack on these during school too. Studying must be pretty tough, huh?"

Ning Nanzhou looked at the assortment of his favorite snacks, including freshly baked cranberry cookies, and lowered his dark jade-like eyes.

"It was probably Chi Yu who sent this, right?" he continued. "Was it also his idea for me to come to FKW?"

FKW wouldn’t recruit someone with a biology major, nor did they need someone just to organize documents. But Chi Yu would gently consider his pride.

Yang Ji fell silent at that. Precocious maturity wasn’t necessarily a good thing—it meant being forced to grow up too soon, at an age when one should still be indulged, making him acutely sensitive to every trace of kindness.

Because it was something he had sorely lacked.

Ning Nanzhou saw the silence as confirmation and tightened his grip on the necklace in his hand.

He couldn’t describe what he was feeling. It was as if he had grown greedy—when all he’d wanted was to see the other person, why did he now wish to be closer?
