Divine Oracle [Transmigration] (ORACLE)
Song Si walked along the street, arrived in front of the clinic, took out his keys to unlock the door, and then, as usual, passed through the overgrown primitive small courtyard to enter the clinic hall on the first floor.
The entire process took about five minutes. Inside the room, Zhu Hongjia stood motionless by the window, quietly watching Song Si enter the clinic. Then he pulled all the curtains open, lowered the blinds, moved the desk in front of the window, and sat down facing the direction of the clinic.
The blinds were open, so he could see outside, but it was difficult to see inside from the outside.
Xu Xinxin’s high-powered lens slowly moved, focusing on that shaded area.
Zhu Hongjia took out paper and a notebook from the drawer and began writing something. The intelligent camera silently flew along the ceiling directly above him, zooming in to capture what he was recording:
"August 20th, 8:02 PM, walked home alone at Intersection 3, expression calm, no abnormalities."
Above the column he was currently writing in, there were several other extremely similar records:
"August 18th, 9:40 PM, drove home at Intersection 1, license plate XXX, with Chu Tongxing."
"August 17th, did not return home."
"August 16th, did not return home."
All the colleagues who saw these words clenched their teeth tightly. Chu Mingyi, positioned on the wardrobe, looked cold and stern. He noticed that the record for August 19th was empty.
On the 19th, Song Si had left for work at 8:00 AM, passing through Xingsheng Mall, when Hong Yi, who was suspected of attempting suicide, fell from the sky. If Chu Mingyi hadn’t pulled Song Si aside in time, two lives would have been lost that day.
Chu Mingyi’s decision to pick Song Si up from the clinic that day was spontaneous and unpredictable. For the coincidence of the falling person hitting Song Si to occur perfectly, there was only one possibility:
Zhu Hongjia had seen Song Si return to the clinic the night before, so he waited by the window. On the 19th, he saw them leave again but didn’t have time to record the relevant information. He guessed they would drive along that route and took a shortcut to arrive at the scene in advance.
This could explain how Zhu Hongjia knew Song Si’s movements, but it raised another question: Hong Yi’s suicide livestream required advance planning. Why was he at Xingsheng Mall at that exact time?
Countless thoughts raced through Chu Mingyi’s mind as he recalled the long list he had briefly glanced at, where Hong Yi’s name had been crossed out.
He had a terrifying suspicion—
Perhaps it wasn’t that Hong Yi happened to be at Xingsheng Mall. On the contrary, it was that Hong Yi happened to be the one at Xingsheng Mall.
During that time, the entire neighborhood was filled with protesting crowds. If Chu Mingyi hadn’t impulsively driven over, and if Song Si had chosen to walk to work as usual, perhaps on another street, another "Hong Yi" would have decided to livestream their suicide and "coincidentally" hit Song Si as he passed by.
A chill crept up his spine, and Chu Mingyi’s knuckles turned white as he gripped his gun.
Damn it, he gritted his teeth. This might very well be a murder attempt targeting Song Si.
They had managed to lure out one killer, Lu Ling, but they hadn’t expected someone else to be hiding even deeper in the shadows!
By the desk, Zhu Hongjia, having finished today's surveillance diary, twirled his pen and pondered for a long while. Finally, he started a new line and wrote: "August 21st,"
He didn't complete the rest, staring at the paper for a long time, lost in thought. Suddenly, he chuckled softly and muttered to himself:
"What do you think?"
Hearing this, everyone in the third division broke out in goosebumps. Song Si nearly leaped from his chair, and Xu Xinxin's finger tightened on the trigger.
Hidden atop the wardrobe, Chu Mingyi, with his exceptional mental fortitude, remained motionless, quietly watching his back.
A moment later, Zhu Hongjia slowly continued, "Aren't cramped, dim places your favorite? What, throwing another tantrum with me?"
Standing on the first floor of the clinic, Song Si quickly furrowed his brow and whispered, "Wait, he's not talking about Chief Chu."
Everyone waited in tense silence.
Zhu Hongjia rose from his chair, walked to the bed, and gazed at the empty space with a smile on his lips, yet his expression was deeply gloomy, resembling a deranged villain from a horror movie. He added, "One failure means nothing."
Then followed another long, oppressive silence.
Zhu Hongjia's smile widened, revealing a row of stark white teeth as his voice deepened: "Shut your mouth, and I'll let you out."
In the voice channel, Yu Yiming and Tian Li both gasped softly at the same time. Yu Yiming couldn't help but curse under his breath: "Fucking creepy..."
Chu Mingyi's expression remained unchanged as he calmly observed this bizarre one-man show from his position.
Zhu Hongjia paced slowly by the bedside, completing half a circle before bending down to peer under the bed—
Right where Chu Mingyi had hidden a bag of items.
Before Zhu Hongjia could straighten up, the moment he bent over, Chu Mingyi gripped the edge of the wardrobe, flipped down, and landed silently.
Simultaneously, Zhu Hongjia's face abruptly shifted. He jerked upright and turned around, coming face-to-face with the dark muzzle of a gun.
Standing opposite each other, Chu Mingyi whistled: "Surprise. Raise your hands, turn around, and don't try any tricks. Of course, I wouldn't mind if you did."
The smile had vanished from Zhu Hongjia's face, his eyes wide as he glared sinisterly at Chu Mingyi. After a few seconds of stalemate, he refrained from any rash moves, maintaining a degree of composure as he said, "Trespassing is illegal."
Chu Mingyi chuckled and replied, "Good legal awareness. But right now," he gestured with his gun, "I'm not very patient. Your arrest warrant has been issued. Resisting arrest means I can shoot—if it doesn't kill you, it'll at least leave you half-crippled."
Tian Li voiced her confusion in the channel: "Huh? The arrest warrant's out?"
Yu Yiming responded, "Be good, Xiao Li. Adults do this sometimes. Shh."
Zhu Hongjia's gaze slowly drifted downward, spotting the red dot on his chest—a sniper.
A vein bulged at his temple as he slowly turned around, following Chu Mingyi's instructions, and raised his hands.
"Get down," Chu Mingyi ordered.
Zhu Hongjia silently crouched down, but Chu Mingyi added, "Wait, move away from your bed. Go to the desk and lie down."
The figure by the bed maintained the position and slowly stood up again.
Chu Mingyi's eyelids twitched abruptly.
A dense, unsettling energy surged out, sharp as an arrow, shooting toward Chu Mingyi's heart in the blink of an eye.
Chu Mingyi didn't move, and neither did Zhu Hongjia.
The energy vanished the moment it touched Chu Mingyi.
Cold sweat finally trickled down Zhu Hongjia's temple.
"Get down," Chu Mingyi continued, "Three, two..."
Zhu Hongjia walked to the desk with his hands raised and lay face down. Chu Mingyi stepped on his back, holding a gun in one hand while handcuffing his hands behind his back with the other. He searched him for any hidden weapons, then fitted a jammer around his neck.
If the jammer detected any superpower fluctuation, it would immediately inject an anesthetic into his bloodstream.
"Alright," Chu Mingyi said, "Get up, let's go. Brother Zheng, bring the transport vehicle to the entrance and come up to the third floor."
Zhu Hongjia was escorted into the hallway. Soon, Lin Zheng arrived to take over the suspect. Zhu Hongjia turned his head and gave Chu Mingyi a cold, sinister glare.
"Tsk," Chu Mingyi raised an eyebrow, "Ability danger level A, with strong hostile intent. Sorry, Xiao Zhu."
He pressed the injection button. The jammer on Zhu Hongjia's neck pierced his skin, and the anesthetic quickly flowed into his bloodstream, taking effect.
Three seconds later, he collapsed limply in the hallway. Lin Zheng roughly hoisted him over his left shoulder and carried him away.
Song Si said, "Chief, I request to conduct a subconscious interrogation. Based on Zhu Hongjia's actions, the Hong Yi case is likely a murder plot targeting both me and Hong Yi."
"Mm," Chu Mingyi acknowledged, "Wait a moment."
He returned to Zhu Hongjia's residence, entered the bedroom, and stood in front of the bed.
Yu Yiming, Tian Li, Xu Xinxin, and Song Si, who had seen his actions, simultaneously felt a sense of foreboding: "Boss..."
"Curiosity killed the cat," Chu Mingyi said, "But humans are always walking the path of self-destruction."
Tian Li trembled: "Brother Yiming, I'm scared. There's definitely nothing good under there, right? I once watched a horror..."
"Shh," Yu Yiming said, "I'll cover your eyes."
Chu Mingyi waved his hand, signaling the AI camera to lower to the ground. Then, holding a flashlight in his left hand and a gun in his right, he bent down to look under the bed.
The camera followed his movement. Song Si quickly took two steps back, preparing to distance himself from the phone screen.
The flashlight turned on.
The screen reflected two pitch-black eye sockets, coldly staring through the projection at everyone.
Tian Li gasped sharply, Yu Yiming let out a low exclamation, and Song Si instantly bristled.
The flashlight's eerie effect, combined with the close-up synchronous transmission from the camera, made it feel like a live horror broadcast.
Under the bed was a human skull!
Xu Xinxin, who was still escorting the transport on the rooftop, couldn't hold back: "What? What? What is it? I can't see!"
Chu Mingyi said, "Nothing much, just a little treasure. Come down later and help me collect all the evidence from the room to take away."
Xu Xinxin was eager: "Okay! Brother Zheng, drive faster! I'm so curious, what kind of treasure is it?"
Yu Yiming, Tian Li, Song Si: "..."
Xu Xinxin, in danger.
