Chapter 32

Marry Me, I'm Super Well-Behaved [Esports] (MARRY ME)

Ning Nanzhou’s mind went blank with a buzzing sound, so much so that the moment they made contact, his back instinctively arched slightly.

He subconsciously tried to break free, but the position was too precarious. The other held him tightly, black long hair tangled around the thin buttons on his chest, instinctively grazing the edges.

His skin had always been sensitive and soft, reddening easily with the slightest pressure. Now, it was flushed beyond belief, melting into a puddle of softness.

He stiffly turned his body, and this time, the other didn’t press against him. Instead, he lowered his head and bit him, his movements exceptionally practiced.

Out of habit, Ning Nanzhou closed his eyes naturally, even leaning in slightly.

The next day, Ning Nanzhou woke up drowsy-eyed and his pajamas in disarray. Rubbing his eyes, he walked out of the room.

His mind wasn’t fully awake yet; he only remembered sleeping uncomfortably the night before but had forgotten why. The moment he saw Chi Yu, he snapped awake!

The memories from yesterday replayed vividly in his mind, his ears burning with heat. Yet, the other showed no recollection of the sleepwalking incident. His shirt was impeccably buttoned, a pair of thin gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose bridge and a delicate chain dangling down his collar, exuding an aura of restrained allure.

The man’s slender fingers tapped lightly on the edge of the table. "Ningning, come here."

Recalling what had happened last night, Ning Nanzhou couldn’t muster the courage to go over for breakfast. He turned his head and made up an excuse: "I think I left one of my earphones in the living room. Let me go look for it first."

With that, he headed to the living room. Not spotting the earphone on the coffee table or sofa, he glimpsed something white under the sofa and crouched halfway to the floor to search.

The living room was right next to the dining area.

Chi Yu watched as the boy, wearing the pajamas he had bought for him, leaned forward, his slender waist faintly visible. Behind his sleep pants, a fluffy bunny tail bobbed with his movements, making his rounded curves appear even more pronounced.

Unaware of his own predicament, the boy arched his rear high, the bunny tail swaying with occasional twists.

Chi Yu pressed his pale lips together. "No need to look."

Ning Nanzhou was just inches away from reaching the white object and ignored Chi Yu’s words, continuing to stretch forward, his body wriggling even more frequently.

He finally managed to grab the object under the sofa, but it wasn’t his missing earphone—it was just an ordinary white bead.

Just then, a large, cool hand rested on his waist, effortlessly lifting him up. "I put your earphones away for you."

He tugged his clothes down awkwardly. No wonder he couldn’t find them after searching everywhere, even crawling around for so long—they had been taken by the other.

But why only tell him now?

Of course, Ning Nanzhou didn’t suspect any ulterior motives, assuming Chi Yu had only just remembered.

Pushing the thought aside, he headed to school. His schedule wasn’t too heavy today, with only one lab class in the morning.

He put on his white lab coat and entered the laboratory. Undergraduate experiments weren’t particularly challenging, mostly requiring attention to detail. He was the first to finish and walked out of the classroom.

A vague sense of unease lingered, and sure enough, before he could even take off his lab coat, his bespectacled academic advisor stopped him. "I’m not sure what’s going on at home, but your mother has been trying to reach you and is very worried. She brought a lot of things to see you this time. Please have a proper talk with her."

Qi Yidan stepped out from behind the advisor, carrying even more items than last time.

In Ning Nanzhou's memory, Qi Yidan was always spirited and radiant. Even when she divorced his father back then, her neat short hair remained impeccably styled. But now, Qi Yidan looked somewhat haggard, with dark circles under her eyes so pronounced that fine blood vessels were visible.

After the counselor finished speaking and left, Ning Nanzhou expressionlessly took off his white coat. Qi Yidan anxiously handed him something: "Xiao Zhou, I truly want to make it up to you."

Ning Nanzhou reached into his pocket for something but found nothing, then curled his lips slightly: "Not coming would be compensation enough."

Seeing Ning Nanzhou unmoved, Qi Yitan wanted to say something but held back, then spoke as if steeling herself: "Living alone outside—"

Before she could finish, the young man firmly interrupted: "I'm not alone."

Qi Yidan recalled the man she had seen last time and cautiously changed her words: "No matter who you're living with, I'm worried about your health."

"Your uncle has a friend who runs a private hospital, and it's very close to your school. If you're willing to go there for a check-up, I'll never bother you again. But don't mention this to anyone, because that hospital operates on an appointment-only basis."

Noticing the curious glances from classmates nearby, Ning Nanzhou lowered his eyes and grunted in acknowledgment.

That afternoon, he went to FKW to continue organizing materials.

His workstation was piled with various snacks—some left by Chi Yu, others by Xiao Qiao and the rest. He precisely picked out the durian-flavored cola.

Yang Ji passed by his workstation and greeted him, not bothering to ask how the young man's work was going.

They all knew perfectly well that the young man was just a mascot here. But since the salary was paid by his husband, and the auntie always added extra dishes whenever he came, plus he was good-looking and likable—what was wrong with being a mascot?

Carrying the competition training materials, he went to the training room. The long-haired man was sitting in front of the screen reviewing documents. Song Mingjie, who was nearby, spotted him and said, "Your data analysis is pretty good, kid."

"Pretty good?" Yang Ji retorted irritably. "If I hadn't developed the Necromancer lineup back then, you'd have been out of a job as manager long ago."

"Wasn't it Chi Yu who asked you to develop it back then?" Song Mingjie slung an arm around Yang Ji's shoulder. "Let's not dwell on the past. Your player profiles this time are really well done—they'll be super useful for the Spring Split."

"What player profiles?" Yang Ji looked puzzled.

"Quit playing dumb when I praise you." Song Mingjie pulled him in front of the screen. "Not only did it summarize the players' strengths and weaknesses with heroes and their teamfight styles, but it also analyzed their personalities through past matches and predicted the strategies they'd adopt in different situations."

Yang Ji grew even more confused: "It really wasn't me."

"Keep pretending, then."

Song Mingjie understood the value of this data—a player's skills might change, but their personality rarely did. If they could predict a player's reactions, even just 10% of the time, it would significantly impact the match outcome. In the analysis department, only Yang Ji had the capability to produce a report like this.

Yang Ji knew this too, but he genuinely hadn't written anything like it!

He held up the training materials in his hand: "The Spring Split is about to start. When would I have time to compile past data? This is this month's training analysis."

Song Mingjie wore an expression of disbelief, and even Chi Yu calmly asked, "If it wasn't you, then who was it?"

Yang Ji glanced at the "past data" heading on the document and remembered having someone organize it not long ago. Suddenly, he found it hard to even swallow.

"Seems like it was your wife."

When Ning Nanzhou was called to the central office, he felt somewhat panicked. He swore he hadn’t slacked off during work hours—why was he suddenly summoned to the office???

And with so many people gathered around!

Song Mingjie smiled kindly and asked, "Xiao Zhou, you really don’t play games normally, do you?"

Ning Nanzhou grew even more anxious inside. Could it be that he had been exposed somewhere??!

He replied cautiously, "I don’t play games. They make me dizzy just looking at them."

Yang Ji couldn’t stand Song Mingjie’s roundabout approach and cut straight to the point: "If you don’t play games, then how did you write this material?"

Yang Ji solemnly handed over the printed player profiles, even wrapped in a plastic cover. Ning Nanzhou’s smile froze on his face.

He had only organized the materials out of boredom back then—it all seemed so simple to him. Could this actually be important data?!

Chi Yu watched him thoughtfully. Ning Nanzhou’s throat felt dry, but he forced himself to stay calm and explain.

"After finishing the team profiles, I was a bit bored, so I jotted down some thoughts. Biological traits are determined by genes, and a player’s instincts also dictate their reactions. For example, when two people face an attack simultaneously, someone with an overactive amygdala is more prone to a fight-or-flight response. Studying this is quite interesting—it’s like an application of biology."

After he finished speaking, the room fell so silent you could hear a pin drop.

The young man coughed lightly. "Is there a problem?"

Yang Ji quickly assured him there wasn’t. He hadn’t expected the youth to casually produce such analysis in his spare time. His gaze toward Ning Nanzhou grew increasingly fervent, almost tempted to lure the boy to the analysis department with a high salary.

But then he remembered Ning Nanzhou studied biology—a bright student from a prestigious university, a future scientist. It would be a sin to divert him.

"If you’re bored in the future, you can leave early. No need to overwork yourself," Chi Yu’s voice was unusually gentle.

Ning Nanzhou breathed a sigh of relief and left the office. Chi Yu picked up the materials and read through them again before standing.

Song Mingjie was about to tease, "Can’t get enough of your wife’s work, huh?" when Chi Yu casually remarked, "Help me look into a streamer."

"Who?" Song Mingjie asked curiously—it was the first time the other had asked him to investigate a streamer.

"South."

The name sounded familiar to Song Mingjie, so he immediately opened the livestream room. Staring at the personal signature that read "Golden Anniversary Husband," he fell silent. Are kids these days really this bold?

He thought of the well-behaved Ning Nanzhou and felt he might have unfairly generalized.

Knowing Chi Yu wouldn’t do anything without reason, he connected the dots from their last conversation and guessed Chi Yu’s intention: "If it’s someone you’ve taken a liking to, their skills must be solid. But what about Xiao Zhou? Would he mind?"

The streamer was clearly an ardent fan of Chi Yu’s. Xiao Zhou was such a quiet kid—always sitting diligently at his desk organizing materials and bowing his head shyly when praised. If he had any objections, he’d probably keep them bottled up inside. Song Mingjie felt a pang of sympathy for him.

Chi Yu lowered his gaze and said one sentence.

Song Mingjie’s expression shifted abruptly, but he said nothing more.

Ning Nanzhou had originally planned to wait for Chi Yu to finish training, but worried the other might notice something off, he headed home after organizing the materials.

He had ended his stream right after yesterday’s match, thinking the surge in his livestream room’s popularity would be short-lived. Perhaps because Qin Yubai had posted an apology statement in his livestream room, a steady stream of viewers kept flooding in.

He was only a step away from V3. Soon, a chubby Little Yellow Bird appeared on the screen, flying from the bottom left corner to the center.

"Congratulations Streamer on just reaching V3, surpassing 64.2% of streamers on the site! Your results are excellent, please keep up the good work in future streams!"

The biggest difference between V3 and V2 is the full-time income. At V2, you need to stream five hours daily to earn six thousand yuan, but at V3, you only need to stream three hours daily to earn ten thousand yuan!

Today happened to be payday for full-time streamers, and it was his first time receiving ten thousand yuan.

He wanted to use this money to buy Chi Yu a gift, but didn't know how to explain the source of the money, so he simply donated to the other's livestream room.

[??? Donated eight thousand yuan?]

[Son, do you have your own money now?]

[Look at how many years you haven't changed your headset]

[The computer does seem to have been replaced]

[Please be better to yourself!!!]

Ning Nanzhou took a sip of milk from his old thermos cup, and when he tried to donate again, he found that the other party had disabled donations.

Chi Yu trained until midnight. When he returned home and saw the lights still on downstairs, he answered Song Mingjie's call with one hand, faint blue veins appearing on the back of his hand.

"We've found out who that streamer is."
