The Green Tea is Always Targeting The Wrong Person (GREENTEA)
A good night's sleep would have been perfect if it weren't for the incessantly ringing phone.
Yue Chu half-opened his eyes as he reluctantly reached out to grab his phone from the bedside table. His expression turned icy as he saw the barrage of WeChat messages.
He had already put his phone on silent, yet the notifications from that guy seemed unaffected as it was continuously chiming, making it impossible to sleep.
Rubbing his temples, Yue Chu sat up halfway before pulling the blanket aside. Noticing the slightly dimming daylight outside, he grabbed his phone and headed to the bathroom.
While brushing his teeth, he idly scrolled through the messages from the mysterious netizen. The lengthy paragraphs made him wonder if anyone really typed that much.
As expected, Simp had once again failed in his confession, being outright rejected by the Male God without hesitation, leaving his heart shattered into pieces.
However, the only thing that brought Simp some solace was that the Male God didn't cut ties with him. Instead, he gently comforted him and assured him that they would remain friends.
"I've never been so close to him before. His eyes were like the autumn lake, clear and pure, allowing me to see straight to the bottom. There was a gentle apology in them, and I couldn't help but fall into them."
"His fingers were cold and trembling slightly when they touched me, making my heart tremble too. I wanted to hold his hand and tell him not to be afraid, that I would never hurt him."
"But I didn't dare. Facing that apologetic expression, what else could I do but gather the pieces of my broken heart and force a faint smile? I could do nothing, nor would I."
"I yearn for the sunlight, yet I never dare to reach out and touch it. I can only seal my love in an iron box, bury it in an unknown corner, and let it take root and sprout, unable to break through the box and be noticed by others."
"Hey, are you there?"
"Why aren't you replying?"
"Are you busy with work? I'm sorry, I got too excited and disturbed you."
Yue Chu swiped his finger across the phone screen, gargled a few times, and spat the mouthwash into the sink. He then placed the phone next to the mirror and splashed water on his face.
He genuinely admired that Male God for remaining unmoved by money, which was quite rare in this materialistic society.
But...
Thinking of this, Yue Chu couldn't help but chuckle. He dried his face with a towel, casually hung it on the rack, and returned to the living room with his phone.
He made himself a cup of milk tea, turned on the TV, and sat on the soft pastel green sofa before continuing to scroll through his phone.
Could they really remain friends? Even a tycoon probably wouldn't casually gift someone a watch worth four million.
Could he really not tremble? He must be regretting it deeply, yet he had to grit his teeth and endure.
However, Yue Chu was curious about the reason behind the Male God's rejection. Was Simp so unattractive that it was hard to stomach?
He picked up his phone and started typing: "That 'essay' of yours is quite 'impressive'!"
The reply came instantly: "Thanks, I copied it from the internet."
Yue Chu raised an eyebrow, impressed by the honesty.
"Do you realize you disturbed my peaceful sleep? You kept sending messages without a single reply. Do you even know how to chat?"
The other person was taken aback: "But, but it's daytime now. I specifically chose a time when I thought you'd be free to message you."
Yue Chu didn’t expect the simp to be so attentive. Well, it made sense—normal people wouldn’t think someone could sleep through an entire day.
“Alright, my bad. I didn’t sleep well last night, so I ended up catching up on sleep during the day.”
“Sorry, I really didn’t know. I didn’t mean to disturb you. What were you up to last night? Were you busy all night?”
Yue Chu was speechless. Had this guy forgotten they’d only known each other for two days? Yet here he was, casually asking about his whereabouts.
But thinking about the questions he wanted to ask, Yue Chu decided to answer honestly. “I went to a haunted house for an adventure, and it ended up being a wild night.”
“Why would you go to such a filthy, dangerous place?”
“I was live-streaming to make money. It’s part of my job.”
There was a long pause on the other end, with the person typing and deleting repeatedly before finally saying, “Well, if you ever need help, just let me know. I’m quite wealthy.”
Yue Chu chuckled as his eyes sparkling like rippling water. He took a sip of his sweet milk tea, bit the straw, and typed, “Are you this nice to everyone? We’ve only just met, and you’re already offering to help me out.”
“Not really. I just feel like we click. And it’s just a loan—you’ll have to pay me back eventually.”
Fair enough. Though Yue Chu wasn’t in any serious financial trouble, he accepted the gesture.
“By the way, can I ask you a few questions?”
“Of course.”
“Are you ugly? Like, really, really ugly?”
The other person seemed at a loss for words as he hesitated for a while before typing, “I don’t think I’m ugly…”
Really? Yue Chu was highly skeptical.
A moment later, a photo appeared in the chat. Yue Chu clicked to open it.
The man in the photo was far from ugly—in fact, he was strikingly handsome. His eyes were deep and melancholic, like the ocean at sunset, where the faint red light slowly merges into the dark blue waters, extinguishing the last trace of warmth. He had a tall, straight nose, thin lips, and pale skin tinged with an unhealthy bluish hue.
He was dressed in a tailored black suit, the crisp white collar of his shirt standing stiffly. His slender fingers were adorned with a large sapphire ring, and on his left wrist was a black watch face. Yue Chu couldn’t recognize the brand, but he was sure it must be expensive.
With looks like that, and yet the Male God remained unmoved. Yue Chu understood now.
“He likes women, doesn’t he?”
The other person was stunned into silence. “How… how did you know that?”
What else could it be? Yue Chu set his milk tea down on the table, picked up a potato chip, and popped it into his mouth.
If a tall, rich, and handsome man was chasing after someone with such devotion and still couldn’t win their heart, it had to be a matter of sexual orientation.
“Then why don’t you just become a woman?”
“…That’s a bit… I’m not at that point yet.”
Yue Chu smirked. “So what’s your plan?”
“I want to try a bit more. If it really doesn’t work out… I just can’t let go yet.”
“Alright, suit yourself.”
Yue Chu thought to himself: If this was the situation, then this Male God was pretty much what he had expected.
The Male God was treating Simp like an ATM, probably even using his money to woo women, while the poor, innocent Simp was still dreaming of bending him.
“But he’s already clearly rejected you. Don’t shamelessly cling to him—it’ll only cause him trouble.”
Simp’s ears drooped dejectedly. “I know.”
"Although you'll still be friends in name, I doubt normal people would want to keep in touch with you after this. I'm sorry, it was my mistake. I thought you two were... but I didn't expect such a complicated situation."
"It's alright, it's not your fault. I didn't explain clearly. This is for the best, I've taken a big step forward and will gradually let go."
Yue Chu stroked his chin.
Letting go gradually was the way to go, but it wouldn't be easy to do so lightly.
"Good, that's the spirit! Since you're heartbroken, you should have a proper heartbreak scene. Call your friends tonight, go drinking, get drunk, and forget all your troubles. Tomorrow is a brand new day, and you'll eventually meet your true love."
"I'll follow your lead."
……
Late at night
Jin Hui was sound asleep in bed with his loud snores particularly annoying in the quiet night.
The window on the side of the bed was half-open, and a chilly wind blew in, causing the white gauze curtains to flutter slightly, like a ghost passing by. The shadows beneath the window were deep, as if hiding something.
Seemingly feeling the cold, Jin Hui tightened his blanket, turned over with his golden eyebrows furrowed together as he muttered uneasily.
Just then, his blanket was suddenly yanked off.
Jin Hui, who had been sound asleep, sat up abruptly while looking panicked at the blanket on the floor.
The room was dark, with only a faint, pale moonlight barely outlining the shapes. However, the corners where the light couldn't fully reach were pitch black.
Jin Hui kicked his legs, wriggled closer to the head of the bed, and turned on the light. The room instantly brightened, bringing him a sense of relief.
Sweat beaded on his forehead as he cautiously scanned the room, only relaxing slightly when he saw nothing amiss.
Leaning over the edge of the bed, he reached to pick up the fallen blanket, the thin blue and white blanket slowly sliding up the side of the bed.
But suddenly, the other end of the blanket was grabbed. Jin Hui froze with his fingers clutching the corner of the blanket and his face turning as pale as snow.
He swallowed nervously before tugging at the blanket again, but a strong force suddenly pulled, dragging both the blanket and him, causing him to stumble and nearly fall off the bed.
Jin Hui quickly let go while gasping for breath. His eyes almost popping out of their sockets and his pupils contracting in fear as large drops of sweat rolled down his temples.
He frantically grabbed his phone from under the pillow. His fingers trembled as he dialed a number, but the mechanical female voice that came through instantly plunged him into despair.
"The number you have dialed is out of service..."
Jin Hui looked at his phone in disbelief. The signal was full, and Xiao Zi and the others were in the nearby rooms. How could it not connect?
He held his breath as his eyes nervously glanced under the bed and his teeth chattering with fear.
But the creamy wooden floor was empty, even clearly showing the dust and a few black spots that looked like grease under the light.
Jin Hui didn't know what to do. He pressed himself against the head of the bed with his fingers gripping the sheets to seek a sense of security. His wide eyes kept darting around, afraid something terrifying would suddenly appear.
But as time passed, nothing happened.
Drowsiness washed over him like a tide, and he could only shake his head to try to drive away the sleepiness.
At that moment, the light flickered twice with a sizzling sound and suddenly went out.
The entire room plunged into darkness, so much so that Jin Hui couldn't adjust his eyes and couldn't see anything.
He didn't care about that, and quickly got up to press the switch.
However, no matter how many times he pressed it, the bulb remained unresponsive and no longer able to bring him the comforting light.
Jin Hui panicked with his heart pounding like thunder. The intense sound hammering against his eardrums, almost shattering his soul.
He frantically slapped the switch with his hand, but even though his palm was already sore, nothing happened.
The dark environment intensified the eerie atmosphere, and only Jin Hui's heavy breathing could be heard.
Suddenly, something grabbed the top of his foot.
It had five fingers, but they were slippery and sticky, with such strength that it almost crushed the ankle of a grown man.
Jin Hui struggled desperately with his fingers tightly gripping the bedpost and continuously kicking his legs, trying to break free from that ghostly thing.
Terrified, he squeezed out a desperate cry from his throat, his voice hoarse and trembling, piercing the quiet night.
"Help!!"
But no one heard him; the boy in the nearest room smacked his lips, turned over, and continued to snore softly.
"Ah!!!"
Jin Hui was pulled under the bed, where it seemed like there was a black hole that forcefully sucked his body in.
He thought he was doomed, but suddenly he felt two hands grabbing his hands, one on each side before forcefully keeping his upper body on the bed.
However, this twisted position almost cut him in half, Jin Hui's face was covered in tears from the pain. The crushing agony turned his face red. He barely opened his eyes to see who had helped him, but saw nothing.
Crack, crack, the sound of small bones breaking made him see stars and his lips were unconsciously bitten raw. He didn't know whether to endure this living hell or just let go and be dragged into the darkness.
The force gripping his hands relaxed slightly, as if realizing his dire situation.
At that moment, the door opened, and a round brown ball bounced three feet high, not only clattering down the hallway but also rolling down the long staircase.
Yue Chu, who had been sound asleep, opened his eyes in fury. His beautiful pupils filled with impatience as he threw off the blanket and went barefoot to the door.
Who's so crazy, bouncing a ball upstairs in the middle of the night!
