Chapter 73: Saving the World with Green Tea Photos 06

The Green Tea is Always Targeting The Wrong Person (GREENTEA)

Yue Chu twitched his leg in exasperation, not expecting Jin Hui to have such a strong grip as he clung to his leg and wailed uncontrollably.

……..

As soon as he entered, Yue Chu noticed Jin Hui's door was ajar, and faint groans could be heard from inside. He pushed the door open to investigate.

Inside, Jin Hui was sprawled on the floor with his fingers weakly clawing at the gaps in the floorboards to drag himself inch by inch toward the exit.

Sweat and tears mingled on his face, soaking the slightly curled golden hair at his temples. Fear caused saliva to dribble from the corner of his mouth, mixing with blood from a wound and dripping down his chin, leaving a sticky trail as he crawled.

"There's a ghost! A ghost!!!"

He clung desperately to Yue Chu's leg with terror pouring from his eyes as he did not even dare to look back.

The person he had once despised had now become his only lifeline, making him wish he could prostrate himself at Yue Chu's feet for a sliver of safety.

Yue Chu casually turned on the light. The sudden brightness made him squint, but he quickly adjusted and scanned the room.

The apartment, including the kitchen and bathroom, was only about 50 square meters. The sparse furniture made it easy to take in the entire space at a glance.

There wasn’t even an ant in sight, let alone a ghost. Yue Chu wondered what kind of nightmare Jin Hui had had to scare himself so badly.

Turning around, Yue Chu saw that Xiao Zi and the others had arrived and instructed them to pull Jin Hui away.

"Alright, there's nothing here. Everyone, go back to sleep."

However, Xiao Zi and the others were also pale with fear, huddling together and unwilling to leave.

Yue Chu raised an eyebrow.

What was going on? They had just visited the legendary "Haunted House" and now everyone was acting as if they’d seen a ghost.

Thinking this, he turned to Feng Xuan before gently pinching the bunny ears on her pajamas, and asked with concern, "Have you had any nightmares these past few days?"

Feng Xuan shyly twisted her fingers. These were the bunny pajamas Yue Chu had given her, and she loved them so much she wore them every night.

But she hadn’t had a single nightmare; in fact, her sleep had been sweet and dreamless.

"Don’t worry, brother, I’m fine."

As she spoke, she covered her mouth with a soft giggle with her almond-shaped eyes curving like crescent moons. She glanced meaningfully at Jin Hui and the others, her voice soft and sweet, "Perhaps some people are scared because they have ghosts in their hearts."

Yue Chu chuckled while affectionately pinching her cheek. The once timid girl had become bolder, and it was utterly endearing.

"Xiao Xuan is absolutely right."

"That’s not it!!"

Jin Hui clutched his aching waist, unwilling to back down. "Something under the bed grabbed my leg and tried to drag me in! Look for yourselves!"

He stretched out his ankle for everyone to see.

But aside from his hairy, smelly foot, there was nothing. His skin was smooth, without even a scratch.

Jin Hui stared in disbelief as he frantically examined his both legs, but he couldn’t find a single mark.

‘This… this couldn’t be!’

That kind of force should have left some kind of mark on his leg!!

Jin Hui pointed wildly under the bed with his teeth chattering and his eyes wide and bloodshot. His entire mental state seemed to be unraveling.

"Look under the bed! There’s definitely something there!"

Yue Chu glanced under the bed.

From this angle, he could only see a narrow gap. The space beneath the bed was too low; it didn’t seem like anything could be hiding there.

To reassure everyone, he walked over, bent down, and peered through the palm-width gap.

Although it was somewhat dark, he could still make out the situation under the bed. Aside from a thick layer of dust that hadn’t been swept in who knows how long and a few coins that had rolled in, there was nothing there.

He stood up, went to the bathroom to wash his hands, and then calmly said, "There’s nothing there. If you don’t believe me, you can go take a look."

Xiao Zi pursed her red lips.

For the past few days, she had also felt uneasy, as if someone was following her. Yet, whenever she turned around, there was nothing there.

Seeing Jin Hui like this, how could she not be scared?

She gritted her teeth, knelt on the floor, tugged at her short skirt, and lowered her head to look under the bed.

Nothing.

Xiao Zi breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and nodded to Jin Hui and the others, confirming that Yue Chu hadn’t lied.

Jin Hui couldn’t believe it. He opened his mouth, but faced with the undeniable facts, he had no explanation.

‘Could it be… could it really have been a nightmare?’

He shivered as he felt the pain in his waist intensify.

He couldn’t worry about this anymore. Getting to the hospital was the priority.

Coming back to his senses, Jin Hui finally realized just how much pain he was in. Gritting his teeth and leaning on his companions, he trembled and said, "Quick, take me to the hospital!"

Yue Chu shook his head, casually closed the door, and first escorted Feng Xuan back to her room.

Looking at the girl’s sweet and adorable appearance, the smile in his eyes flowed like a gentle stream, clear and warm under the soft sunlight.

"Go to sleep." he said.

He tucked Feng Xuan in, slightly closed the open window to prevent the night breeze from making her catch a cold, and remembering that the girl was afraid of the dark, he thoughtfully left a warm yellow wall lamp on. After softly saying goodnight, he closed the door.

The smile on Feng Xuan’s lips never faded. She pulled the blanket up to cover her shy face, feeling as if her entire body had turned into a feather that was lightly floating in the wind.

‘Was this what it felt like to have a brother protecting her?’

If this was a dream, she hoped she would never wake up.

She lowered her long eyelashes. Since her brother liked her cute and charming appearance, she would always remain this harmless.

…..

Just as Yue Chu returned from buying fruit outside, he saw the dim alley under the moonlight flickering with glaring red and blue lights. A red police line had been set up, keeping the chattering crowd at bay.

He walked over to ask what had happened and learned that a murder had taken place there not long ago.

A young woman walking home alone had been killed on the street with her body dumped in this corner. A passerby had seen it and immediately called the police.

Thanks to his height, Yue Chu could see through the crowd. The body had already been taken away, leaving only a pool of blood. A lonely white circle simply marked the spot where a vibrant life had ended, while the murderer remained nowhere to be found.

Yue Chu frowned. This was the only way back to the apartment. From today on, he would have to accompany Feng Xuan to and from work.

………

Just after taking a shower, his phone lit up on time. With just three ding sounds, he knew it must be that mysterious online friend who had inexplicably added him.

Yue Chu wiped his damp hair, casually opened his phone, and checked what misfortune this guy had encountered this time.

"He posted on his social media, saying he was in a bad mood and got drunk on alcohol."

"I'm really worried."

"It's so late, it's not safe, and he's drunk again, sigh..."

Yue Chu raised an eyebrow.

This Male God really wasn't willing to take any losses. Originally, he had thought that when the Male God couldn't hold out any longer, he would definitely take the initiative to seek out Simp. He hadn't expected this move.

A slight smile tugged at the corner of Yue Chu's lips, carrying a hint of amusement at the unfolding drama.

"Of course, you should pick him up, but there's a bit of finesse to it."

"Great God, please enlighten me!"

Yue Chu typed: "Where is he now?"

"Luyao Music Bar at Xidian Gate."

What a place to choose.

A night there probably costs tens of thousands. It seems this Male God not only wants a ride but might also be planning to have Simp foot the bill.

Yue Chu thoughtfully stroked his chin as a gentle smile played at the corners of his eyes.

This wouldn't do.

"Since your Male God didn't specifically message you, if you go directly, you'll make him lose face."

"Here's what you do: call a car to pick him up at the bar entrance. Oh, and remember to leave his number, not yours."

"I know you're concerned about his safety. Do you know where your Male God lives? Go wait at his doorstep until you confirm he's safely home, then come back."

"Remember, make sure to give the driver your name. That way, when your Male God asks, he'll know it was you, and your effort won't go unnoticed."

After pondering for a moment, the other person felt this method was simply perfect and immediately agreed.

"Thank you. Ever since you started helping me, everything seems to have gotten better."

Yue Chu chuckled before picking up an orange from the table and peeling off its thin, dry skin. He separated a sweet segment and popped it into his mouth.

Indeed, freshly bought fruit tastes the best.

"No problem. We seem to have a connection, so helping out is only natural."

At this, Yue Chu remembered something: "For the next few days, I'll be coming home later at night, so don't message me so early."

"Why? Did something happen?"

"Nothing major. There was a murder near where I live, and I'm worried about my sister. I plan to accompany her until the killer is caught."

The other person was stunned: "You... do you live near Jinshui Road in Huayang City?"

Yue Chu raised an eyebrow. It seemed he and this simp were in the same city. Only someone in the same city would know about the recent murder so quickly.

"Yes, I live in Kaiyang Apartments nearby."

After much hesitation, the other person finally replied: "Then be careful. If you need any help, just let me know."

"Thanks, you're a good person."

The other person laughed bitterly: "No need to give me the 'good person' card. I've received plenty of those."

Yue Chu smiled. It seemed this person wasn't completely clueless.

"Alright, my bad."

"Do you think ghosts exist in this world?"

Yue Chu's strange question seemed to catch the other person off guard. After a long pause, the "typing" indicator appeared.

"How could they? It's the modern age. That's just superstition."

Then they added: "Why are you suddenly asking such a strange question?"

Yue Chu's eyes sparkled with amusement.

This person was really... honest.

"Maybe it's because I visited a Haunted House recently, and now I keep worrying about being haunted by ghosts."

This time, the reply came instantly: "Don't worry. No ghost would dare haunt you."

Yue Chu raised an eyebrow.

This response... was full of confidence.

"Listening to you say that, I suddenly feel like a weight has been lifted from my heart. Thank you."

"No... no need to be so polite. I was just speaking casually."

Yue Chu casually crossed his legs and switched the TV to the latest news report. While watching the latest updates on the case, he quickly typed away.

"Honestly, after getting to know you these past few days, I really think you're a reliable, gentle, and affectionate person. It's just a pity..."

"Actually, this matter isn't your fault or his. It's just that you two weren't meant to be."

"I genuinely want to advise you, which is why I'm saying this. Trying to change someone's orientation is too difficult, and it's painful for both of you. Letting go early is a form of mercy for each other."

The other person sent a crying emoji, which didn't convey much sadness but instead made Yue Chu find it somewhat amusing.

"I know. Thank you."
