Chapter 74: Saving the World with Green Tea Photos 07

The Green Tea is Always Targeting The Wrong Person (GREENTEA)

"Feng Xuan, who is that? Your boyfriend?"

Colleagues chattered around Feng Xuan with their curious gazes fixed on Yue Chu standing downstairs, excitement bubbling over.

Feng Xuan shook her head shyly before earnestly explaining, "That's my brother."

Yue Chu was so wonderful; she simply didn't deserve him.

The colleagues grew even more excited. "Oh my, such a handsome brother! Feng Xuan, you're so lucky."

"Your brother has been picking you up these past few days, he was probably worried about the murder case. So thoughtful. But you still need to be careful living in that area. I saw on the news today that there are still no leads."

"Yes, yes, it's so terrifying."

Feng Xuan thanked her colleagues one by one, then quickly gathered her things and headed downstairs.

Seeing her approach, Yue Chu's smile grew even brighter, more dazzling than the evening sunset.

A gentle breeze tousled his hair, and his snow-white long-sleeved shirt fluttered slightly, making him look like a male lead straight out of a manga, heart-stoppingly handsome.

In just under ten minutes, seven or eight people had come up to chat with him, not to mention the countless others who kept turning their heads to steal glances at the handsome man.

"Thanks for your hard work."

Yue Chu took the bag from Feng Xuan's hands and placed it on the scooter's footrest, then helped her put on her helmet before starting the scooter.

The scooter was bought by the original owner and hadn't been ridden for long, so it still looked quite new. Its white exterior was strikingly bright, the body lines elegant, the start smooth, and the brakes responsive. The only downside was that it only had two wheels.

Fortunately, Feng Xuan's workplace wasn't far, so riding the scooter was convenient. Otherwise, Yue Chu would have had to squeeze onto the subway.

"Ready?"

Feng Xuan wrapped her arms around Yue Chu's waist before resting her head on his broad shoulders, feeling as if the happiness in her chest was about to overflow.

After years of hardship, heaven had finally opened a window for her.

Her lips curved into a smile and her beautiful eyes brimming with happiness and joy. Her once pale face now had a rosy glow, like countless ordinary girls, finally living a simple and beautiful life.

It was Friday, and Yue Chu didn't want Feng Xuan to have to cook after work, so they decided to have a big meal outside. They strolled around until ten o'clock before leisurely riding home.

By then, the quiet alley was empty, with only the dim yellow light barely illuminating the path ahead.

Fortunately, Yue Chu had good eyesight and rode steadily.

As they chatted and laughed, they suddenly heard a woman's scream not far away.

Yue Chu frowned before turning the scooter toward the direction of the sound.

"Xiao Xuan, don't be afraid. Your brother is here; nothing will happen. Stay hidden to the side later, and no matter what you see, don't run around, okay?"

A glint flashed in Feng Xuan's eyes, but she nodded obediently before calmly saying, "Brother, don't worry. I'll protect myself."

‘What a good child.’

Yue Chu felt immensely relieved.

His expression darkened as he sped up, relying on his sharp hearing and good memory to twist and turn through the alleyways.

On a few steps ahead, Yue Chu saw a man in black, wearing a hood, holding a knife and stabbing at a woman he had grabbed.

The woman resisted in terror but never gave up hope of survival. Her slender, pale arm had been slashed at least five or six times with blood streaming down, staining her pink silk shirt.

Because of her resistance, her high heels fell off to the side, but she still desperately kicked her stocking-clad legs to continuously try to break free from the assailant's control.

Yue Chu stopped the scooter, gently pressed Feng Xuan's shoulder, and then sprinted forward.

His speed was incredibly fast as his snow-white shirt fluttering loudly due to the intense running, like a swift leopard pouncing on the assailant with lightning speed.

The assailant heard the commotion, turned around, and slashed at Yue Chu with a knife, but Yue Chu deftly twisted his wrist and directly disarmed him.

Yue Chu's gaze was cold and composed. The bleak moonlight illuminates his pale skin and jet-black hair, making him look like a deity emerging from the light, here to save mortals and punish evil.

The blade in his hand gleamed coldly, and with a swift turn, it was effortlessly aimed at the assailant's neck.

His eyes were indifferent, like a frozen plain swept by a cold wind carrying fine snow.

Staring into the assailant's fierce eyes, he slightly curled his lips into a smile: "Are you wondering if I dare to cut your throat right now?"

The assailant's pupils contracted.

"Help! Save me!"

At that moment, the injured woman, as if seeing a savior, grabbed Yue Chu's leg with her blood-stained hand, crying in despair and pain, disregarding her injuries.

Yue Chu had to lower his head to comfort the woman, who was so panicked that she couldn't control her emotions. However, in that brief moment, the assailant turned and fled before quickly disappearing into the vast night, taking advantage of his familiarity with the terrain.

Yue Chu frowned but couldn't focus on catching him anymore.

The woman was severely injured. He hadn't looked closely earlier, but now he noticed that besides the stab wounds, there were also signs of impact. If not for her strong will to survive, she might have already passed out.

"Xiao Xuan, call an ambulance quickly. I'll report to the police."

As a witness, Yue Chu followed the JC to give a statement.

"It was around 10:10. I checked my watch when we left the restaurant at 9:56, and the journey took no more than fifteen minutes."

"I didn't see his face clearly. He was about 1.8 meters tall, wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, and a mask. He had thick eyebrows, brown eyes, and seemed relatively young."

"He was very familiar with the surroundings and could escape quickly. He also had good physical skills, probably trained regularly."

Yue Chu provided all the information he could think of, and the JCs were excited, not expecting to get such detailed clues.

After Yue Chu finished giving his statement, Feng Xuan went in.

He sat on the bench outside, accepted the hot water handed to him by the female JC, and softly thanked her.

At that moment, his phone rang again.

Yue Chu was a bit too busy to respond, so he sent a voice message directly.

"I'm at the JC station right now. I'll reply to you tomorrow. Sorry, today has been too hectic, and I'm a bit overwhelmed."

After listening, the other side almost instantly sent a string of words, the black characters seemingly jumping right onto Yue Chu's face.

"What happened? Why are you at the JC station?!"

Yue Chu slightly curled his lips. Although Simp was a bit clumsy, he was very sincere, and his concern was undoubtedly heartwarming.

"It's nothing. I just witnessed an assailant committing a crime and came to give a statement."

“!!!”

The other side sent three exclamation marks, fully expressing his shock.

"You're not hurt? Next time you see something like this, run as far as you can and don't try to be a hero!"

"Got it, thanks for your concern. I'll find you as soon as I have some free time tomorrow."

The person on the other end quickly replied, "No problem, your matters are more important. There's nothing major on my end. If you need any help, just let me know. I can definitely assist in some ways."

Yue Chu thanked him again but thought: No wonder everyone likes this guy. Honestly, he likes him too.

...

The next day, news of another woman being attacked spread everywhere, causing a wave of tension among the residents of the area. Fewer people ventured out at night.

Yue Chu, idle at home, finally had the time to ask about the other person's situation.

"Did anything happen yesterday?"

Simp seemed to always be online and quickly responded, though not to Yue Chu's question.

"How are things on your end? What did JC say?"

"Not great, just carrying on as usual. Although I provided some clues, solving the case won't be easy. The perpetrator is bold and meticulous, and it's not his first time committing such crimes. He left very few traces."

The other end was extremely anxious, "But he saw your face. What if he seeks revenge?"

Yue Chu chuckled lightly. If that were the case, it would be good—he definitely wouldn't let him get away a second time.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

However, the other end wasn't convinced and quickly typed out a long string of words.

"No, you're in serious danger now. Since that guy is experienced and almost got caught because of you, he'll definitely try to retaliate. Don't go out unnecessarily during this time, and it's best to apply for witness protection. No, no, I still don't feel it's safe enough. Here's what I'll do: I'll send two bodyguards to protect you. Don't worry, they're professionals and will ensure you're not harmed in any way."

Yue Chu rested his chin on his hand and smiled softly. The sunlight streaming through the large floor-to-ceiling windows warmed him.

What a lovable fool.

"You're such a gentle and considerate person. It's his loss to have missed out on you."

After a pause, the other end replied dejectedly, "I don't think he feels any regret at all."

Yue Chu raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued. It seemed something very interesting must have happened last night to cause such a drastic change in Simp's attitude.

"What happened?"

"I sent a car to pick him up yesterday, but he didn't seem happy at all and immediately blocked me."

Yue Chu chuckled.

Of course, without finding someone else to foot the bill, not only would it be embarrassing, but his wallet would probably be bleeding.

"How could that be..."

The other end sighed helplessly. That was one thing, but the main point was...

"Later, I waited for him at his doorstep and saw..."

"I saw a beautiful woman open the door for him, already five months pregnant."

Yue Chu laughed while picking up a piece of cut watermelon from the plate and taking a bite. The sweet flesh melted in his mouth as a warmth spread to his heart.

"Maybe that was his sister or cousin?"

"No way! They were kissing and hugging at the doorstep!"

"He lied to me! He clearly said he was single and had never been in a relationship. And there were never any photos of that girl in his social media, so I thought..."

"I'm so stupid..."

On the other end, the heartbreak was overwhelming.

The beautiful veil that once shrouded his eyes had been torn away by the very person he adored. The pure and flawless love he had imagined had turned into a filthy ditch by the roadside, shattering his heart.

Yue Chu pondered for a moment and then said, "I suggest you investigate further. After all, sometimes what you see isn’t necessarily the truth. Rather than letting yourself be consumed by suspicion and unease, it’s better to take decisive action and find out what’s really going on."

"In your heart, he has always been that pure and beautiful figure. Perhaps there’s still some misunderstanding here."

"I think you wouldn’t want to end your unrequited love in such an unclear manner."

Unrequited love is always beautiful yet bittersweet, but if you encounter a scoundrel, all that beauty will be stripped away completely.

After a long period of contemplation, the person on the other end accepted Yue Chu’s advice.

Yes, deep down, he still couldn’t believe that the person he loved was truly like this.

However... none of this was the main issue. The priority was still to send someone to protect Yue Chu.

But who should he send?

Simp was torn.
